Boston City Council closing in on new voting map

After several proposed redistricting maps and nine public hearings, the Boston City Council appears to be coalescing around a newly drawn map even as interest groups and some councilors continued to express objections.

The map, presented at a public hearing Wednesday at City Hall, is one of at least seven proposed by the Redistricting Committee and other council members so far.

The latest version includes parts of other proposed maps. But an advocacy group composed of several minority organizations, including the NAACP Boston branch, remains unsatisfied and proposed its own map at Wednesday’s meeting.
