Coast Guard rescues boater from waters off Point Judith

A 51-year-old man has been rescued from the waters off Point Judith after a Coast Guard search that began when his empty boat ran aground Tuesday night. Coast Guard spokesman Ross Ruddell said the man was found early Wednesday morning, suffering from hypothermia, but otherwise uninjured. He was taken to South County Hospital and is expected to be fine. Officials said they began searching after 7 p.m. Tuesday when the 23-foot pleasure boat was found empty with the engine running on Green Hill Beach in South Kingstown. The man was found at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday more than 2 miles south of Point Judith.
