Two people were seriously injured when a truck carrying watermelons rolled over on Interstate 84 East in Sturbridge this morning, State Police said.
The accident occurred around 10:50 a.m., near Exit 1. Both people in the truck were ejected from the vehicle. The ramp from I-84 to Route 15 has been closed, said Trooper Todd Nolan. A medical helicopter has been called to transport the victims, who are suffering from life-threatening injuries, to the hospital, he said.
Police and state officials are on scene investigating the crash and crews have been called to clean up the watermelon debris, Nolan said.
