Boston officer’s blood-alcohol level high, records say

Richard P. Jeanetti, the Boston police officer accused of crashing into another motorist after speeding through a stop sign while off duty on May 24, had a blood-alcohol level that was more than three times the legal limit, according to court records released Friday after his arraignment.

“It was learned from Mr. Jeanetti’s truck that for 6 seconds prior to the accident he accelerated to approximately 68 [miles per hour] and did not apply the brakes prior to the collision, and he failed to stop for the clearly posted stop sign at the intersection of Austin Street and West Street,’’ Sergeant Detective John R. Kelly wrote in his report.

The facts are in fire this guy. Union lawyers defending criminal drunks....what the hey!!!!!!!

JohnDOe, that's what public employee union lawyers do - they defend the indefensible. To me, that's the biggest difference between public employee unions and trade unions. Trade unionists do a bad job and they stay home and collect unemployment. Public employee unionists do a bad job and their union fights to get their job back. When the police deparment disciplines this guy the union will fight the discipline.

Have we all forgotten that the BPD initially sent this guy home and tried to brush this under the rug until WBZ did an exposé? It seems like the Globe forgot.

If any cop gets on the stand and perjures himself by saying he wasn't drunk, then he should be fired with the drunk. How drunk was this guy? It must have been a while before that breathalyzer was taken at the hospital...he must have been 4 times the legal limit at the scene.
