Teens in UNH program launch simulated satellite

High school students participating in a University of New Hampshire summer program will be launching a simulated satellite, and possibly their careers, when they send a cardboard and foam vehicle to the edge of outer space this week. Project SMART is a four-week residential program at the university for high school students interested in careers in science and mathematics. Students work with faculty in three areas: space science, marine and environmental science, and biotechnology and nanotechnology. On Monday, students who have been studying space science will travel to the Vermont Agricultural Business Education Center in Brattleboro to launch a vehicle they built that is designed to gather data on cosmic rays.
