Mediator finds for fired Boston officer

He may be due years of back pay

An arbitrator has ruled that a former Boston police officer who was acquitted on charges of being an accessory to a 2005 slaying was unjustly fired after a department investigation into the matter and ordered him reinstated with back pay.

In a 36-page decision dated July 19, independent arbitrator Richard G. Boulanger ruled for Baltazar DaRosa, 34, who had been terminated by the Police Department in 2010. Boulanger is an arbitrator approved by the patrolmen’s union and the city to hear disciplinary appeals.

Unions. Thugs. What more can you say?

Thugs? It appears it was a neutral arbitrator agreed on by the union AND the City that made the decision. Listen to some more hate radio, sport.

The Globe or some other media outlet should take a look at how often "independent" arbitrators rule in favor of the public employee. It seems to me that the Boston Police should be able to fire a police officer who is so close to an armed gunman that he drives him away from the scene of a shooting - no matter what he knew or didn't know. A freakin' police officer! Gotta love public sector unions.

Why does the headline say "Mediator finds for..." when it was an arbitration, not a mediation? Does the Globe not know the difference?

what is clear is the animus some have (a) for police, (b) for public sector workers and (c) for those charged, tried and ACQUITTED. one commentor says GUILTY because he is a member of a union. another says GUILTY because he drove his car with the ALLEGED shooter, and REGARDLESS of what he knew or didnt know. what kind of country do these knownothings want to live in ? what is clear is that it is not the USA where the charged are presumed innocent, an acquittal has consequences and proof of some sort is required before government acts. sounds like they would fit right in, say, in Iran or North Korea. no unions and no proof and no stinking due process in either of those places.

Unbelievable!
