Shark bites man’s ankle at Ballston Beach in Truro

A swimmer was bitten on the ankle Monday, apparently by a shark while in the water off Ballston Beach in Truro, police said. The injury was not believed to be life-threatening.

The man, who was not identified, swam to shore and spoke with rescue personnel as he was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a 911 call came in about 3:30 p.m., said dispatcher Martha Wheeler of the Truro police. About 7 p.m., the man was being prepared for transfer to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, said Ana Paula, a secretary in the emergency room at Cape Cod Hospital.

Sounds like she was just tasting him, just nibbling a bit -- probably tasted awfully stringy compared to a nice plump seal...

"A short time later, Wynne said, a fin flew up in the air about 500 yards from shore and "slammed down" on one of two men swimming in the area." What does that mean, a fin flew up in the air? And why are two swimmers three tenths of a mile from shore? And how can Wynne see them at that distance? Why is she watching swimmers so far away? This story seems, well, fishy.
