Police break up two-state prostitution ring

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Police in Portsmouth say they have made three arrests in a prostitution ring they believe may extend from Manchester to Portland, Maine. The investigation began with complaints about men arriving at a Portsmouth apartment complex in taxis and being escorted to an apartment by different women for short periods of time. Jim Parra of Kittery, Maine, 22, and Brooke Parent of Manchester, 21, were charged with prostitution. The owner of the apartment, Alexander Marino, 38, was charged with one count of prostitution for allegedly allowing his apartment to be used for prostitution, and one count of marijuana possession.
