It was a little after 2 a.m. on Aug. 1 when Trooper Sean Lewis was making his overnight rounds at Logan Airport and came across a woman sitting in the US Airways baggage claim.
This was not unusual, a lone figure among the dormant luggage belts and the quiet hum of lights. Passengers miss rides. They spend the night between connecting flights. They arrive hours early for dawn departures.

One of a thousand good cop stories in any given day that don't usually make the news. Thanks for making this one known.
Thanks, Brian. What "candlone" said. Of course, this kind of story doesn't give the cop-haters much chance to make the usual jokes and baseless generalizations they like to use, so you won't get many comments here.
Thank you for publishing this story. For all those who may say, this isn't news, I disagree. Amid all the stories of corruption, depravity, degradation, and greed, we need to be assured that there are still public servants who demonstrate courage and compassion.
Wonderful story. We need more "feel good" items in the news. Thank you.
There are plenty of caring, professional police officers out there, and I'll bet this sort of thing happens all the time. We just never hear about it. Kudos for bringing this to light, Brian!
Nobody does it better. When they kick him up to someplace where he doesn't write, it'll be the Peter Principal. Don't let that happen, Brian. No matter what they pay you for that new spot, please don't accept it. Insist on the pay raise, but keep writing. Otherwise, go somewhere else... I'll follow your columns.
Thanks for posting. Good to hear.
LeeinMass, you know why we don't hear about it? Because the Highway Patrol has one heck of a P.R. person. This happens 5 times a day in Boston but they are too busy running from call to call to reach out to the press.
