A 12-year-old from Cranston is headed to the White House for the first-ever Kids’ State Dinner after being named a winner of Michelle Obama’s healthy recipe contest. Caroline Cowart’s broccoli and cheese egg-white omelet was named one of 54 winners in the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. There were more than 1,200 entries. The White House in May invited children ages 8 to 12 and their parents to submit an original recipe. The contest is organized by Obama’s “Let’s Move!” antiobesity campaign. Caroline is a seventh-grader at Western Hills Middle School.
