N.H. man killed in motorcycle crash coming from Mansfield concert

A 50-year-old New Hampshire man was killed Sunday night in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 495 northbound at Exit 12 in Mansfield, State Police said this morning.

John Wallace of Deering, N.H., lost control of his 2009 Harley Davidson after rapidly decelerating when traffic unexpectedly slowed to a stop, a preliminary investigation found, State Police said.

Wallace was returning to his hotel from a concert at the Comcast Center, State Police said in a statement. He crashed into the roadway, suffering fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which was reported at about 11:25 p.m.

The right lanes of the highway were closed until about 2:05 a.m. for the rescue efforts and investigation.

State Police are investigating. The Mansfield fire department and state highway division assisted at the scene.

The rock concert Sunday night at Comcast Center featured Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, and other bands, according to the website of the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival.
