Scott Brown’s plans for an endorsement today by famed Lowell boxer Micky Ward, of “The Fighter” fame, were cancelled after Ward said he learned about the Massachusetts Republican’s stance on labor unions and gay marriage.
The Sun of Lowell reported this morning that Ward told the newspaper on Thursday he “admired Brown’s spirit and respected the way he could ‘go out there and listen and talk like a guy who is positive and wants to do right by us.’”

The headline should have read "Mickey Ward takes a dive..." Clearly, the thugs running the unions (who do NOT speak for the rank and file members) put the screws to Mickey, who threw in the towel rather than lose out on lucrative (read: overpaid) Teamster work. Guess he realized his 15 minutes of fame ended about 16 minutes minutes ago and he better play nice -- lest he get a real working over by guys who don't pull their punches.
Well we know where you stand even though you have nothing to back it up. Mickey Ward does not need the union to make a living. However he understands when someone like Scott Brown rejects his working class roots. I would be careful who you call a thug. Mr. Ward may not have lost all his pugist skills my friend.
Is that a threat, OETKB? (Albeit a poorly worded, misspelled one?) Might you be one of those pinky ringed union "leaders" who told Mickey to drop his endorsement -- or else? Thanks for proving my point about how today's unions are run. As for Mickey Ward not needing the union to make a living, better tell that to him: He's been in the news quite a bit lately, "toiling for the Teamsters" on local movie sets: http://bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view/20220308teamsters_set_to_get_real_in_hub_with_mark From having a movie made about your life to being a gopher on the set: yeah, that's progress for the working man, all right. Way to go, Teamsters!
Another high profile person discovers that Brown is bogus! Brown's avoidance of the convention is like a man without a country. Brown's excuse was that he's a busy guy. Said he's very busy as a "soldier, husband, father and senator" and that's why he had little time for the convention. Of course, he'll never admit that he was distancing himself but everyone knows that he was. Again he's lieing. Let's see: soldier two days a month, congress is in recess, daughters are doing their career thing and wife is working in DC news media. He's not visibly campaigning except for TV ads. Busy? When pigs fly!
