Police say a Canadian motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a moose, The Bangor Daily News reported. The motorcyclist was thrown off his 2009 Harley-Davidson after hitting the animal on Route 201 north of Jackman, according to Detective Lieutenant Carl E. Gottardi II of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Gottardi told the Bangor newspaper that moose are especially difficult to see at night because of their dark color. A passerby happened on the scene Saturday night. The victim, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not identified pending notification of family. (AP)
