Off-duty firefighter helps rescue man from pond in Carver

An off-duty firefighter helped rescue a man whose truck crashed into a pond in Carver Saturday night, police said.

Neighbors pulled Peter Grover, of Kingston, from a pond off 208 Plymouth St. after the 1994 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving crashed into the water shortly after 7:30 p.m., Carver police said in a statement.

Carver firefighter Adam Johnson performed CPR on Grover, and he was breathing on his own by the time paramedics arrived, the statement said.

Grover was taken to Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. His condition could not immediately be determined this afternoon.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the statement.

A police dispatcher said no one was available to comment on the accident until later today.

Johnson joined the Carver Fire Department this year, according to the department website.
