Two killed in early-morning Littleton crash

A man and a woman were killed when a pickup truck struck a utility pole on Great Road in Littleton early this morning, police said.

Police believe the driver of a 2001 Ford F-350 pickup truck was speeding when he veered off the road while making a turn around 5:20 a.m., according to Littleton Police Sergeant Robert Romilly. The truck flipped several times, landing back on the road, he said.

“The vehicle traveling west on Great Road failed to negotiate the curb all the way,” Romilly said.

The passengers, a man and a woman, were ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released their names.

It appears the passengers were not wearing seat belts, Romilly said.

The truck’s driver was taken to Lowell General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He had not been charged with a crime as of this afternoon.

Littleton Police, the Middlesex County district attorney’s office, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are investigating, Romilly said.
