Patrick tells convention Mitt Romney failed Mass.

Calls ex-governor a ‘great salesman’ who didn’t do job

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Governor Deval Patrick, in a forceful rebuke of his predecessor, said Tuesday that Mitt Romney failed as governor of Massachusetts to create jobs, repair crumbling bridges, and invest in schools.

“Mitt Romney talks a lot about all the things he’s fixed,” Patrick told delegates at the Democratic National Convention. “I can tell you Massachusetts was not one of them.”

Perhaps, Romney did not fix Massachusetts because Deval had not yet broken it.

You know, I am no fan of Mitt Romney, and I will certainly vote for Obama, but if Deval Patrick wants to see the person who really failed Massachusetts, tell him to .look in the mirror !.. I sent "Governor" Patrick an email and to his aides telling him in no uncertain terms that my former employer - State Street Corp was in the process of wiping out 750 boston jobs, and he said that was a "local" government issue and that he wasn't getting involved with it.. Thanks Governor!!.. You're the best! Good luck in your future career..

How can the governor speak about fixing Massachusetts; he's never here.  Oh wait...he did repave the road to his mansion.  Did he mention that last night?

Was Mitt Romney governor of Massachusetts? Gosh, I barely noticed him here. In fact, in his last two years of his four year term, he was so busy on the presidential campaign trail he was actually *in* Massachusetts less than half the time. For the most part he governed in abstentia. LIke everything else, our fair Commonwealth was only a chess piece, a pawn, in his quest for personal power and aggrandizement. We know now, in hindsight, that Romney could care less about Massachusetts, he's doing everything he can to get people to forget he was ever here (which isn't difficult). Is this who we want as president?

Romney left Massachusetts in much better shape than when he started. It seems petty and disingenuous to bash one's predecessor like that when Patrick's own record is less than stellar.

Saying the roads and bridges were crumbling because of Romney is ridiculous-the reason was Tip O'niel, Dukakis ,Ted Kennedy,Salvucci,Ammorielo(sp ?) all DEMOCRATS. Ronald Reagan called the Big Pig (DIG) the biggest boondoggle in infrustructure ever perpertrated in history-he was right. Ma. has been saddled with such a crushing debt from this fiasco we may never recover. The only ones smiling are Bechtel, the unions that extorted and padded thier payrolls, the suppliers of shoddy materiels, and the Ma. State Police being paid overtime to sleep in their private autos (cruisers).

Tip and Ted goverened Mass?  Really?  Me, I thought we had 12 years of Republicans before Deval.

Let's see, didn't Governor Romney's administration leave a two billion dollar surplas when he left office? And didn't Deval Patrick spend most of it balancing 'his' budgets? So, Deval, ask yourself who really has fallen short.

To quote the Cato Institute on Mitt, "His first budget, presented under the cloud of a $2 billion deficit, balanced the budget with some spending cuts, but" "$500 million increase in various fees was the largest component of the budget fix."  http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=77749

yea stand up for free abortion, partial birth abortion, abortion in the 9th month, infanticide, no God in our tent, who cares about Israel, food stamps!

I seem to recall voting for Patrick because he said he was going to return 25% of our property taxes back to the homeowner.  Well the only thing that happened was my taxes went way up as did other taxes and fees and costs of various programs.  He is the one who failed Massachusetts but like Obama he is a great little speaker.  Only this time I won't be falling for it.

Somehow 7 of the 20 Republicans who live in Mass decided to comment, so how about this, Massachusetts is the 14th largest state and has the 12th lowest unemployment rate. Texas, the Republican Fort, has the 2nd largest population and the 19th highest unemployment. Those are facts. Another fact is that Massachusetts has the highest percentage of health-insured citizens in the country, which is a legacy of Romney. However, Romney seems to hate the fact that he signed such a "socialist" bill and will do as much as he can to make sure everybody forgets he did it. If Massachusetts' taxes are too high for you, kindly leave.

Hey Deval you didn't even get 50% of the vote, your lucky to have a job and thank Mitt for leaving you a rainy day fund. By the way I'm still waiting for my realestate tax relief you promised.

"an indication that Patrick may be aiming for higher office"? Let's see what that might be? Perhaps a position overseeing our prison system. While Deval is likely a very nice man his empathy for rapists and murderers has always been disturbing. Maybe he should have spoke to his plans for taking taxpayer money and creating assisted living prisons. Or Judge Wolf's great courage in mandating that MA taxpayers pay for a murderer's gender identification surgery. After all, a murderer shouldn't have to spend the rest of their miserable lives in mental anguish! You go Deval! No, really, please just go!

You do know District Court Chief Judge Mark Wolf was appointed by Reagan, right?
