Officials say a woman and her 6-year-old daughter are unaccounted for after a four-alarm blaze tore through an Uxbridge apartment building.
The fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday and engulfed the old farmhouse that had been subdivided into five units.
Neighbors told firefighters that the woman and her daughter had been seen in the area earlier Monday, but were unaccounted for after the fire. Their vehicle was still in the building’s driveway.
Some neighbors knocked on the first-floor door but the woman did not respond.
State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said officials are conducting a ‘‘detailed search’’ of the burned out building.
Dozens of firefighters from at least 14 communities were called into to battle the blaze.
