First-time candidate Patricia Campatelli scored a victory in Thursday’s primary election, edging out fellow Democrat and Boston City Councilor Salvatore LaMattina for the open Suffolk register of probate seat by 799 votes, according to unofficial election results posted by the City of Boston. LaMattina, a councilor since 2006, enjoyed broader name recognition than Campatelli.
In legislative races, only two state representatives from Boston faced opposition Thursday, and both longtime office-holders easily retained their seats. In the Seventh Suffolk District, Representative Gloria Fox of Roxbury sailed to victory in the Democratic primary.
