Lowell police are investigating after five people, two women and three men, were wounded in a barrage of gunfire on a residential street Sunday night. Police responded to an address on Smith Street at 9:33 p.m., said Captain Kelly Richardson of the Lowell police. The five people shot were 22 to 28 years old. They were taken to Lowell General Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Richardson said. No arrests had been made in the case. No one answered the door Sunday night at the three-family house where the shooting occurred. There was blood on the sidewalk leading to the porch, where there were beer bottles, sodas, a liquor bottle, cigarettes, and a pair of eyeglasses. Neighbors said they heard between six and eight gunshots, the Globe reported Monday morning.
