Warren ad is first to go on attack in campaign

Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren, in a further retooling of her campaign advertising, is throwing a punch at her Republican rival, Senator Scott Brown, using the trainer of Lowell boxer Micky Ward to accuse him of “siding with the big money guys’’ and large corporations.

The 30-second ad, which will begin airing Friday across the state, is set in the West End Gym in a blue-collar neighborhood of Lowell and features Ward’s trainer Art Ramalho, who says Brown’s political positions work against the interest of working people.

Make that FALSE reputation for moderation and bipartisanship

No question about this comment. I will bet Mitt's $10,000 that the two people (so far) who dislike Kristin's comment never read Brown's voting record, sorry as it is. "Bipartisanship," the way Scott Brown practices it, is over-rated. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I personally would like to have a Senator who I can count on to do the right thing every day. Brown supporters sort of like the thief metaphor: He only steals one day a week. The other six days he volunteers cleaning the park. That's supposed to make it more palatable? If you haven't realized by now that Scott Brown is lighter than air, you're not paying attention.

In 2011, Sen. Scott Brown introduced the bill to Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK): Brown said he introduced the bill because, “we serve the public, not our bank accounts: Serving the public is a privilege and an honor, not an opportunity for personal gain.” Note that insider trading allowed congressional staff an opportunity to become very rich, although the average citizen would have gone to jail for the same behaviors. The Bill was passed and became law. Senator Scott Brown introduced a Bill which went against the Washington political culture: He worked hard to get the Bill passed into Law. What have the other Massachusetts Senators done for the people of the state that they claim to represent?

Brown did file a version of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act (insider trading bill) in the Senate, and he did pitch it to the president during a brief run-in, but Brown's version was not the one Senate ultimately passed 96-3, and earlier versions of the Insider trading measure had been kicking around the legislature for several years. That’s isthe truth about Scotty’s working hard to get get credit for something that was all set to go through.

That bill is all well and good.  I'm glad it passed and I'm glad Scott thinks so highly of the president that he wants to promote any connection there that he can.

All the same, that bill is small ball. The issues we will face over the next six years include Supreme Court appointments, the deficit, taxes and international relations.  I have little faith in the man Scott would put at the head of the Senate: Mitch McConnell.

Ms Warren's election would be another nail in America's coffin being orchestrated by her mentor in chief, Mr. Obama.   Her idol's performance on economics has been appalling.  Now, his abysmal failure in foreign policy is rearing its ugly head.  While Muslims mobs  were breaching the walls of our U. S.  embassy in Libya, Cairo's Muslim brothers raged burning our flags and replacing it with a  Al Qaeda  banner.  Diplomats   condemned those who hurt the feelings of Muslims and 24 hours later the President failed to even mention the attacks in Egypt as he appeared in the Rose Garden.   This is the team Ms Warren wants to join as she slathers her hate business chant in this campaign.  She would be another plank in our sinking economic and foreign policy ship of state.   Football seems trivial in this conversation.  However, as a Patriot fan, her election would be tantamount to rooting for the N. Y. Giants.

What are you talking about???

If she were elected, I don't think the reaction to her lecturing would be any different in the Senate than it is with the people of Massachusetts. She even turned off people in the Obama administration after lecturing Geitner. She will not be effective in the Senate.

Yes, she turned people off after lecturing Geithner, because she was charged with finding out where all the money went! She was representing the American people who had just bailed out our wonderful 'businessmen' and saved the country from progressing to the Great Republican Depression. You should look at the quick U tube here and see why Elizabeth Warren is for the middle class, doing what Scott Brown would never do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz7ruJw6byQ

Sawmill2 - Yes, she was charged with finding out where all the TARP money went. Did she do her job on that, do you think all that money was well spent? Or did we just find out that "there weren't any shovel ready jobs (snicker snicker)" ?

The Warren campaign just doesn't get it. In order to make Warren a more attractive candidate in her commercials they MUST remove all images of her and use someone else's voice even to say "I'm Elizabeth Warren and I approve of this message". I've spoken with so many friends, Democrats, Republicans & Independents, and most of them are nauseated everytime they see or hear her. I know, I know that is so superficial yet in order to get to her message you have to get beyond her pressence and that's almost impossible to do. Of course, if you do get beyond her pressence, you get nauseated by her attempt to deliver the message. She's an insincere phoney and I, for one, can't wait until November 6th finally gets here so we can finally rid ourselves of Mrs. Mann.

We know you have your ears closed but your eyes are out of focus also.  Prof Warren appears for half the video.  It tells me you didn't even look at it.  You shut like shooting off your....  Excuse me, caught myself,  but your non attention to what each candidate is saying and stands for is appalling.  Better check out just what Scott Brown voted for, who supports him, and what policies he endorses.  A little help: votesmart.org  It records what was in bills and what each legislator's vote was along with public information from the legislator themselves and what groups have supported them.  After reviewing that if you still think he is doing a credible job then the status quo is certainly your balliwick.  You welcomed this recession with open arms and think it is ok to limit women's rights, not relieve suffering of the unemployed, and we should control the world through military means.

Scott Brown's Joe Sixpack appeal is wearing thin as he has avoided discussing his more substantive votes against women, working people, affordable health care, alleviating suffering of the unemployed, and his allegiance to the Paul Ryan budget.  Yes it is time for the real debate to begin.  Instead of standing up for these votes he whines.  If this state is going to vote for Obama he will need legislators who will move his agenda so Elizabeth Warren fills that bill.  If Obama's margin of victory nationally is wide then it becomes even more important to have his agenda fulfilled.  When Bush became President he was given that support on his agenda.  Now that the shoe is on the other foot and there are issues that do not trample on minority rights the President should be backed.  He can not do this without a cooperative Congress.  Remember also a President can nominate Supreme Court Justices, carries out Federal Laws, and is in charge of war and peace.  All these things must be seconded by the Congress.  It time to stop the legislative logjam.

Just a reminder of how Scott's joining the Republicans in a special election was greeted by them. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says he took notice when he heard that Brown was signing autographs 41. "This is a man who understands how the Senate operates," McConnell said. As the 41st Republican, Scotts presence gave back to minority Republicans the filibuster option they lost in the last election. It forced Democrats to review strategy for completing the healthcare reform bill that Brown campaigned to defeat.

Article headline says:" Warren ad is first to go on attack in campaign" Turns out her "attack" is just a general comment or two about Scott's votes. I hope the Globe is not going to support Scott's claim that any time Elizabeth mentions one of Scott's votes, that it is an attack on him. Certainly, the Globe doesn't support Scott Brown in expecting to get reelected without having his votes in the Senate revealed.

What a FRAUD Mickey Ward turned out to be.  What a loser.  I had no idea he was so dumb.
