A day after trading charges in their first debate, Senator Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren charted two different courses on Friday: Brown intensified his attacks, while Warren rallied voters with the help of her newly minted supporter, Mayor Thomas M. Menino.
Amplifying an argument that he made in Thursday night’s debate, Brown sought to undercut Warren’s reputation as a consumer advocate by highlighting her work as an attorney for an insurance company in an asbestos lawsuit.

Why don't you try running on your own record, Senator Barncoat? Could it be because your record is basically non-existent and you'd prefer that voters didn't notice that? If you spent less time polishing your image and more time working on behalf of your constituents, perhaps you'd have a record that consisted of something more than cotton candy and rightwing fluff.
Record non-existent? You really should not show your ignorance so blatantly, bojangles. Even Lyin' Lizzie was quoting from his record of accomplishments, trying to make them sound like something he should be ashamed of. Well, he told her...if she wants to accuse him of failing to raise taxes, he admits it. HE WON'T RAISE TAXES.
Folks, if you want your taxes raised anymore than they already are, and will be increasing starting in 2013 and 2014 thanks to Obamacare, then you go right ahead and vote for Lyin' Lizzie. If you think the government gets enough of your hard earned money, and you want someone to PROTECT YOU AND YOUR WALLET, VOTE FOR SCOTT BROWN!!
Au contraire my Republican leaning friend. Oil companies get subsidies robbing the government of needed revenue. Wall Street regulations were weakened so the bill for watching them is left to taxpayers(Scott Brown's contribution to the Law). Employers, according to Scott Brown, should be allowed not to pay for women's health care on flimsy excuses(a tax on their income according to conservative Supreme Court Justice Roberts). Lower federal income taxes are held hostage to preserve those who don't need theirs lowered. Local governments will have to raise their taxes because of Federal short falls from program cuts that increases your tax burden while sparing those who can afford it. Scott Brown would cut research funding, an important resource for this state, in terms of improving life and making permanent good paying jobs and hence more tax payers. Of course his votes are at the expense of his fellow citizens who can't pay at all or struggle to do so. You will believe any hogwash for who knows what reason. Scott Brown will increase your taxes unless, and you might be, in the top 3% of income earners. You can fight for such provisions but it is not very patriotic to make your fellow citizens needlessly suffer and diminish the overall prosperity of this great nation. I know, I know you actually believe MItt Romney's version of the 47% who pay no income taxes. In reality that portion of the populace lie in nursing homes. They are the elderly, who paid in all their hard working iives. They are the disabled who were former full fledge tax payers and veterans. Better check in your own family before you decide what Scott Brown is advocating. Then use your own calculator to see if you will be paying more out of your pocket or not based on his proposals. President Clinton pointed it out at the Democratic National Convention. It's not left or right, "it's arithmetic."
The mayor's endorsment is a head fake. I suspect there were many Brown voters in the crowd at yesterday's event who just happened to be holding Warren signs. This is the latest version of the "Harshbarger" endorsment.
Now we know not only is Scott Brown a prevaricator, he is a vicious one. He does not care what he says even if he has his facts wrong. His goal is to damage his opponent's reputation at any cost. Travelers took the low road and refused to make the Trust Fund for victims of asbestos poisoning available as had been worked by Prof Warren's work. They were given a way to regain public trust and trampled their name and blatantly disregarded Elizabeth Warren's legal construction to compensate injured workers. They decided they were going to keep their unearned cash. This actually exemplifies modern day politics. A good faith compromiser offers a deal that is win-win and the other side decides to turn it into win-lose. This is what Scott Brown does. His sense of right and wrong is busted. He has accomplished little for the people of Massachusetts and the nation. He has even caused potential harm to people's lives. The sad thing is he does not even realize it. Sen Brown believes this is the way the game is played. If you want to ingratiate yourself with ethically challenged monied class despoil those who ask for economic fairness. He is not looking for opportunities for people. He is looking to build himself a cushy lifestyle. Mayor Menino said it best when he finally concluded that Elizabeth Warren has the back of those who deserve more security in their lives because of their hard work and contributions to society. Therefore, he said, we must have her back and elect her as the next Senator from Massachusetts. When Scott Brown says not to believe those "negative attacks," no matter how true he is doing what he has honed to a high political skill. He is expert at lying with a pleasant face and voice, a true present day Republican. What a turn off.
Sore loser, aren't you? Scott Brown wiped the floor with Lyin Lizzie....she didn't get away with her lying attacks on Brown, now that she was face to face with him and he could stand up for himself.
And I'll bet anything that Menino will go into that voting booth and vote for Brown once the curtains are drawn.
The lier here as you have repeatedly shown yourself to be Martec is Scott Brown. However I do not care if you belong to that club. It's a free country so far. We'll see if he actually wiped the floor with her come Nov 6th. Scott Brown after his "triumph" in the debate said he was too tired to face the press. Did he go home? No he showed up at a local bar. This is the man you believe in. He can not even tell the truth about the most simple matters in his life. Your conjectures on Mayor Menino just shows how fantasical your logic is. But keep it up. Others will judge whether Scott Brown should be reelected with supporters like you. He probably even approves your message.
Scott Brown exemplifies today's Republican Party. The object is to try to destroy your opponent by distorting or lying about their background. His reason for being in the Senate has not shown he actually helps people with proper legislation. He more often shows he is there to pamper his ego so he can hang out with unethical capitalists who have a lot of money. His stunt before the debate of feigning "the good public servant" by supposedly missing some votes is the kind of put on he indulges in. Over the next days and in future debates his blatant mischaracterizations will become clearer. So stay tuned. He has stepped on a mine field of his own creation. He has lied about Elizabeth Warren's accomplishments and is using these vignettes in her life to refashion them to his own wayward purposes. He will pay a price for it. He will go from "he's a nice guy" as Jerry Williams often pointed out about jaded politicians to the hollow anti government public official with a nice smile he really is.
To further put this in sharp focus. Instead of going on the record with reporters after the debate, he said he was tired from his half day's work and wanted to go home. Did he go home? No he went to a local bar to hang out. What a piece of work.
You sound like you could use a drink too, OETKB.
Why doesn't the Globe put this Menino endorsement in better context? The mayor and his team are on a real losing streak. They've been on the wrong side of many big fights in the last few years, going back to 2006 when he picked the wrong horse- Reilly- against Gov. Patrick. He supported Hillary Clinton over the president too. His ground game is pretty weak when it comes to getting other people elected, even in city council and country races that big city mayors with healthy machines would win hands-down. Warren's going to win Boston, anyway, with our without mayor's help.
She gave him a kiss yesterday. Now the is in luv.

"...the diverse crowd of hundreds, dotted with union members and city workers..." Dotted with union members and city workers? How about "comprised totally of union members and city workers"? Funny how all these "working people" never seem to have a problem taking time off in the middle of the day for Democratic events, isn't it? At the Brown-Warren debate Thursday night, you should have witnessed the union workers and college students streaming off of the luxury motorcoaches that transported them to the station. Warren's supporters showed up at 1 p.m. -- six hours before the debate. Brown's supporters -- who came by car, on foot -- showed up after 5. That's the trouble with having a real job; you actually have to show up in order to keep it. That anyone can actually say Elizabeth Warren will fight for "working people" is laughable. Her rallies show exactly who she'll fight for: unions and other well-financed special interest groups intent on keeping the government gravy train rolling. Scott Brown is the only hope ACTUAL working people have for an independent voice to look out for their interests.
You obviously were not there. There were people from every walk of life. You will see how many people turn out for her on 10/1 here in Lowell. There aren't that many Union and City workers in the Commonwealth. I am not Union, I don't work for the government and I support her, I have gone out on scores of canvasses. Elizabeth Warren has the largest ground game since WWII. That's a numerical fact. Scott Brown has almost none. Look at what is there not what you wish.
They all used their vacation time. I can't imagine a state employee, being paid from the sweat of hardworking taxpayers, being so dishonest as to show up there during the hours they should be doing productive work for the state.
Scott Brown is a highly competitive man. He wants to win at everything he does. But, he comes off as defensive at all cost. When it was revealed that Elizabeth Warren worked for and was paid by an insurance company on an asbestos case he jumped on the opportunity to criticize her. Then when he finds out the truth, that without her help the victims had no chance of obtaining a settlement, he calls the messenger "Democrat"-
Scott Brown is really petty and pathetic. When he says "I came from nothing too-" Anyone who was raised poor would never brag about it. People who are self-made are usually to proud to announce it that way.
What Scott Brown is is a self-absorbed ego maniac with a strong desire to be in the public eye. He is a "celebrity politician" and that's not what this state or this country needs.
He take these photos with his beautiful family and his pick-up truck... MEMO to Scott Brown: Having a pick-up truck doesn't make you middle class or even a friend of the middle class! Stop trying to sell the voters that BS. We're smarter than that!
By sarcastically and continually calling Elizabeth Warren "Professor Warren" he is attempting to demeen her, categorize her in a non-flattering way. It's a "CHEAP TRICK". Since when is achieving the title "Professor" a bad thing?
In some of the commercials the people say they like him because he's "independent". He's not an "independent! He's a republican who wants as many votes as he can get. By claiming that he votes independent he's hoping to get some democratic votes. Another "CHEAP TRICK"! He's only independent in regards to his motivation- he's running for office to satisfy his own need to win and be in control!
In the end if Scott Brown is elected it will be a HUGE mistake- He's running his campaign like he's still in High School, one "CHEAP TRICK" after another-
BEAM ME UP SCOTTY! I'm voting for ELIZABETH WARREN!
Watch our! Your particles may end up on Mars. Your depiction of Scott Brown sounds like a high school year book "Gotcha".
I came over to this article after reading the Herald and read pretty much what I expected to. I'm still waiting for the Liz supporters to defend her past experiences that she clearly lied about. And Dave McMorris, who has given about a half mil to the Dem party is polled about her? Sorry folks...but the speeches need to come from, not the unions, and not the wealthy who can afford to give so much to the party, but from the people that work independent of the union thugs (as recently became prominent again for being thugs) and middle class people who truly make up the fabric of the country. That class is being strangled, absolutely strangled, by needing to support and carry the lower class while the wealthy, like David McMorris, promote a fake indian, a fake receipe writer, and a fake candidacy that will help...guess who? David McMorris. I'll still vote for the guy who beat Marsha...why? Because Marsha never ran again showing what Liz will probably show us...being propped up to win an election by people with money, and seldom the guts to do it themselves, is tiring and revealing...it's uncomfortable. Besides, if you win you have to work hard, then do it again a few years later. It's much harder than conning a university that you are a minority and teaching ONE course for $350K/year. Maybe Scott is not great in the eyes of McMorris and friends, but anybody was better than Marsha for Senator, and anybody is now better than Liz.
What past experiences that "she clearly lied about"? Actually - she didn't. Scott Brown did. First he made up a silly story that a woman widely regarded for her academic and retail trade books somehow achieved her standing by using "Minority Status". Brown has no document, no witness, nobody and no thing to support his wild claim. Independent journalists interviewed most of those who were on the hiring committtes and there was no minority status discussed or seeen in any document. So Brown Lied and his supporters are dumb enough to baselessly believe him. The Asbestos thing is similarly dishonest. She worked for the victims, creating a trust fund for them. After she left the case, Travelers did not keep with their end of the bargain and didn't pay into the fund. Scott Brown forgot to tell you that. So let's look at Brown's record. He has continuously lied about where he gets his money and how he votes. This too is on public record if you care enough about your country to check. Brown lied and distorted about his work to get jobs in this state - he defeated the bills. His work for veterans, defeated bills for them. His "Service in Afghanistan" - 5 days in a Kabul hotel at government expense. It's time for MA citizens to care for their country and their state and really look at this phoneys record. It's all there.
Please tell me which questions you want answered beyond the scope of Geoffrey's reply. While you're typing, please also tell me why I should vote for Scott Brown and I would also appreciate verifiable links to what he has done to deserve my vote. Thanks
Menino, and "the machine", endorse Warren in the inexorable march to a one-party state. Is there not a reason our last 3 House Speakers were indicted? In Louisberg Square/ on the tax-free yacht, Sen Kerry, and in Lawrence, Mayor Lantigua with his $40million loan.... in Massachusetts, it really should be the "Entitlement Democrats" or "Progressive Democrats", not just Democrats. After all it certainly is not your father's Democratic Party, its' not about the struggle of immigrants newly from Europe. Rather, it's about a sense of Entitlement that crosses the classes to include EBT card abuse to union only work in Worcester, 6 figure salaries on State Commissions and Housing Authorities and Greenways, selective prosecution of wrongdoing, straw candidates for governor, and now a sinecure for Warren, who has done exactly what for Massachusetts before being annointed by The Party? If you are not on the Democratic Dole, what do you get for your taxes? Think before you Vote!, but Vote!
Not to worry. Menino is a friend of Scott Brown's. He had to endorse Professor Warren because he is a Dem. In the end, he'll support her just like he supported Marsha Coakley.
Two years later and Brown still won't reveal to the DA the pedophile that he says abused him. He attacks Warren's character but no one seems to care (or is willing to raise) that Brown is content with letting that same man roam the streets, perhaps even work in a school or camp, and ruin children's lives. Remember? He said he "dosen't even know if the guy is still alive" and "i have more important things to do with my time.
Well, why not name him to the DA and let him find out. If Brown had always kept this private maybe (only maybe) could you justify him keeping quiet. But he decides to tell the story for political and personal gain (selling books and buying votes with sympathy), so how do you justify his silence. Or is it too unpleasant and incorrect to ask whether the story is made-up like many others he tells.
Because there's only two reasons for not naming the person to the DA (which he can do confidentially by the way): 1) he values his own time more than the lives of children, or 2) he made it up.
Does it matter which it is?
Favor fabrication. Did the abuser pick out Scott then retire frompedophilia? Seems rather unusual. Wouldn't some of the othervictims, assuming there should have been others, come forward? By the way, ask Howie Carr what he thinks. He is on record slamming Brown for this silence.
This is a legitimate issue that strikes to the core of who Brown really is. He has fabricated and mis-stated and plagiarized and lied enough to fill another book, but he gets a pass from the press. Brown make the molestation the signature event of his book and went on a signing tour and national TV with it. The issue and Brown are fair game, since he introduced it publicly FIRST. Peodphilia is not rehabilitatable. Pedophiles just keep on molesting until they are caught and once caught, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts tracks them and identifies them to the community. Scott Brown has essentially protected his molester because he did nothing to stop him. No identification, description, characteristics, location or even (as user notes) whether he is dead or alive! Could it all be another fabrication, another delusion, another grandstand play? If so, it appears to be working, sorry to say.

Brown misrepresented Warren's involvement in the asbestos case to issue an unfair attack. Brown has been praised for being "hardworking". Billions of people are hardworking. It is not a reason to vote for them.We consider,of course what the person actually does.Voting against 3 jobs bills doesn't help. Yeah,Menen!!!He is acting on behalf of the citizens, There are bread and butter issues involved. We can't afford a majority-Repub Senate.Warren would greatly help the cause of keeping the Senate Dem.
Looks like the Mayor is going for another term!
Browns repeated pointless attacks on Warren's Native American heritage comes off as petty, and undermine Brown's claim of bipartisan. Independents are turned off by this.
If this is all he's got then its over!
If this is all he's got then its over!
You can't be 31/32 white and claim to be a minority on applications! It is not only 'wrong', it is also 'illegal'. Democrats should be the first ones saying so!
The mayor's endorsment is a head fake. I suspect there were many Brown voters in the crowd at yesterday's event who just happened to be holding Warren signs. This is the latest version of the "Harshbarger" endorsment.
Scott Brown seems to be a very nice guy and if the stakes were different I might want to vote for him. But the stakes go well beyond Ma. If the balance of power in the Senate shifts back to the republicans then you can say goodbye to wall street and banking regulations, environmental regulations, a continuation of oil tax subsidies, just to mention a few. If you would like to see these things happen then Brown is your vote. But please don`t vote for him because he has bipartisan creds or worst yet because he is a nice guy.
I'm sure Liz will vote for anything her idol tells her to including those popular investment schemes for your tax dollars like Solyndra. If you want a puppet in the Senate with no mind of her own, vote for her.
Pro Fox-What we want is to have as many non-idiot, non-religious right wing zealots and non-corporate sycophants in both the House and Senate. At this point in America's history that means voting exclusively for Democrats.Warren is a Democrat.Try to keep up, it's not that hard to figure out.

So where's the famous Boston "Fact Checker" on Elizabeth Warren's involvement with the asbestos lawsuits and the Cherokee Indian situation? It's nowhere to be found. --Anybody who praises the Globe for putting out a "Fact Checker" should think again. it's a very limited "Fact Checker".
Nowhere to be found? Maybe you can't read. Both issues have been in the Globe several times and the Fact Checker says the Brown is distorting Warren's roll in the Asbestos settlement, which is still in court.
I don't believe you've ever posted an intelligent or factual post. What's wrong Mike?
Breitbart reporting she did not even have a license to practice law in MA
