In ads, Warren defends heritage after Brown attacks

US Senator Scott Brown and his Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren launched dueling ads Monday over her claims of Native American heritage, an issue that has provoked the most serious personal attacks in their race.

The sniping began when Brown launched a 30-second spot, entitled “Who knows?” The ad features grainy clips of television reporters talking about Warren “identifying herself as Native American to employers. . . . Something genealogists said they have zero evidence of.”

Native American heritage is Elizabeth Warren's Willie Horton.

When I was a kid, I asked my mom, "Mom, where do babies come from?" She thought I said "rabies", so she answered "from a dog bite". A few weeks later a woman in my neighborhood gave birth to triplets....I thought she was bitten by a great dane..." Z via Woody Allen

And did your misunderstanding of birth continue until adulthood, as Warren claims with her heritage? Did you fill out legal forms and make claims of special status based on a child's understanding of the world as Professor Warren claims she did? ;-)

Her debate consisted of a power point presentation. "More important the me' she said, 'is giving Mr. Obama four more years of control in the Senate of the United States". More important than your desire to be represented by a person the entire nation will view as a make believe "Indian" or an ambulance chasing lawyer who clutched at those legal fees to represent the big business interests she so proudly despises today. What is not being explained is that she wanted her name in documents that went before the Supreme Court. As an academician, her job depended on getting published. Refusing to simply release her employment documents that show her declaration she was a native American operates the other way - not getting published. Look at her closely, please! She will do or say whatever it takes at any given moment. At this moment in time, she is hanging on to Hillary and Barry's coattails for dear life. Is she really worthy to sit in Ted Kennedy's seat?

and some of the things she publsihed were not held in high regard

"BeGolfing", how many is "some"?  Two?  Seventeen?  Five hundred?  Ha-ha-ha!  "Some"!  Hey, "some" of our collective postings are probably not held in high regard, either, but that didn't stop us from forging ahead, right?  "FORWARD", brother.  Oh, and what things that Scott B published were held in high regard?  He did write that memoir, to decidedly mixed reviews.  Hardly a scholar, but always a back-bencher -- that's our Senator Scott.  (We don't want no in-tuh-lec-shew-ull, right?  We want Scott Brown instead.)

Warren's stock answer is always "As a kid I never asked my mom for documentation when she talked about our Native American heritage. What kid would?" It's not an answer however; she 'checked the box' as an ADULT LAWYER who understood the burden of proof involved. Federal diversity forms filed by Harvard were not filled out based on the understanding of children, but by adults who understood the legal requirements.

Wish I's said that!

I get it now. Professor Warren is an Indian and I am really an Eskimo!

It actually IS very crucial that we not have a Repub-ruled Senate. There's too much at stake e.g Ryan's budget plan which would greatly increase costs to current and future seniors. The list of comcerns is very, very long.

We have been spinning our wheels going nowhere for three years now!  If the senate doesn't go Republican, nothing will be fixed, and YOU will waste another four years of your life going absolutely nowhere.  And you're cheering it on?  The ignorance is appalling.

Its going no where becuase of the Party of No.  By your logic we should reward petulant behavior that put party ahead of country.  No thanks.

"So my parents had to elope.’’"

That is a LIE. Her parents did noit elope

Give me a break and let's move on. I was always told by my Grandmother that we had heritage from the Iroquois Tribe. This information came from my Great Grandmother and had been passed on by her Grandfather, at that time they didn't have DNA testing and the average American didn't have access to genealogy sources the 1800's, if you could indeed find records .Your heritage pass was at that time passed on from generation to generation. Two years ago, using the internet, I was able to trace both my father's and mother's heritage to England going back to 1623. There is no Indian blood anywhere. I had to inform my son and grandson it wasn't true . Did my family knowingly lie to me, no just family folklore. With an Irish last name, I thought I had there had to be some Irish in me, I do not have one drop of Irish blood in me.

Doesn't matter: you can't be 31/32 white and claim minority status.  It is ILLEGAL.

Democrats here never should have allowed Obama to shove Liz Warren down their throats in the first place.  Democrats could have prevented this disaster at their convention.  No spine.

A lot of people do not understand native american heritage... that's pretty clear... IF your ancestors DID NOT SIGN THE DAWES ROLLS... you have NO CLAIM per the US Gov't to BE A NATIVE AMERICAN.

It is highly likely that while her mother came from people who did not sign the roll and there were many you didn't... can you blame them...after 3 centuries of genocide by the "new" Americans many did not want to be known.

EW will never be able to prove because those decisions to sign or not sign were in 1893. IF you were of native american ancestry...all you had before and after that was VERBAL history. BTW... Oklahoma is a state where the whites loved to say "dirty indian"... well until the tribes got gaming and became the 3rd largest employer in the state.

In my opinion all these smears are the work work of karl Rove working for Scott . They were seen talking together the one day Scott was at the Republican Convention. Elizabeth’s work to get the Consumer Protection Agency in place speaks much more to her character than these attempts by Karl Rove and the Brown campaign to smear Elizabeth's reputation..
