Former state chemist Annie Dookhan does not have a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Boston as she claims on her resume, officials at the school confirm, raising new doubts about the credibility of the woman at the heart of the spiraling state drug lab scandal.
Dookhan, who left the lab in March amid allegations that she mishandled drug evidence in criminal cases, received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the university in 2001, officials say. But school records show that Dookhan took no additional courses after her graduation in 2001 and does not have a master’s degree from the university as she claims in the resume on file with the state. School officials say Dookhan requested an application for the master’s program, but never completed it.

Here's an even better headline: "State Doesn't Check Training for Chemists Doing Criminal Testing". Here's another: "The Luck of the Irish? Chemist with No Training Gets Job With State"
FYI, looks like the text editor has gone back to eliminating blank lines, so I'll be going back to inserting ">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>" paragraph delimiters.
You mean they don't check these things out? They just take your word about your education?

Maybe the person in charge of checking resume's was overloaded with work, and cut corners, and the department complained to management which did nothing!
Obviously there was a failure to properly vet the employee. Speculation about who's to blame and why is not helpful in the absence of any evidence.
And the hits just keep on coming with this gal. I wonder if anyone is keeping tabs on what the total financial impact of this debacle is expected to be?
So, whoever hired her should also be implemented in this fiasco for not requesting documentation. This woman should be criminally charged.
So we now know for certain that she lied under oath when describing her qualifications on the witness stand. And this woman is not in handcuffs and under arrest right now because?
I'm betting she was transferred to the drug lab from Connolly's Probation Dept...
Wow (mouth drops open). This gets worse and worse. People in jail who are innocent, criminals will be let out who were guilty and will commit more crimes.

Here's another thought: It has been reported that Annie Dookhan lied about her training, and was dishonest about the tests she performed, and had unsupervised access to the evidence lockers (and, so MAY have also affected the test results of other chemists). How do we know she was not accepting direction, either in terms of political favors, or personal favors, or payoffs, in terms of what the results should be? Why has it been reported that she was just trying to have the most output of the chemists -- is that what she said? There could be a lot more money to be made than just her salary if she were receving payoffs. I assume there is already a warrant to examine her phone calls and emails for connections to those who might have things to gain through fixed tests. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Remember, once you control the "facts" and the "evidence" you can get any outcome you want (or that money or power can buy).
