US Representative John F. Tierney released six years of tax returns to several news organizations on Wednesday, revealing that he and his wife, Patrice, reported annual adjusted gross income averaging $180,957 and paid federal income taxes averaging $26,561.
The Tierneys’ returns were straightforward and appeared to contain no unusual deductions or income. The great majority of their income came from Tierney’s congressional salary, currently $174,000 a year, the returns show.

Well, isn't it interesting to see that Tierney paid "14%" in taxes - doesn't that sound familiar.
How come the Globe doesn't highlight this fact regarding Tierney like the Globe did regarding Romney???
Also, how much in charitable contributions did Tierney make? NOT even mentioned!!! Or....maybe it's ZERO??!!
I thought the point of yesterday's story was Patrice Tierney's failure to list $200 grand from her brothers as income, rather than as gifts. Even H & R Block would tell you your taxes will look OK if you fail to declare income. Looks like Tierney's lawyers did a pretty good job of scaring the Globe away from a dubious but potential libel suit.
