Second armed robbery is reported near BU

A second armed robbery has been reported this week near Boston University.

Brookline police say two victims reported being robbed of personal items at gunpoint on Egmont Street at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday.


The victims said that three males, all of them 16 to 20 years old wearing sweatshirts or jackets, displayed a handgun, according to the Brookline police blog.

A witness later reported that he saw three males taking off sweatshirts at Pleasant Street near Dummer Street and stuffing them in backpacks before continuing on Pleasant twoard Commonweatlh Avenue.

The robbery follows another armed robbery with a gun reported at 3 a.m. Sunday on Hamilton Road.

BU Today, the university’s daily news site, reported that the victims in both cases were BU students.

The site reported that both BU and Brookline police were stepping up patrols in the area.
