Democrat John Tierney isn’t bothering to hide his contempt for Richard Tisei, his Republican opponent in the Sixth District congressional race. “I’ll compare my 16 years in Congress up against his 26 years of doing nothing at the State House anytime,” growled the longtime North Shore incumbent. “We’re going to pull this thing out.”
It is Saturday morning and volunteers are streaming into a campaign office in Lynn for a door-knocking campaign on Tierney’s behalf. Tierney makes a short speech stressing that Tisei stands with the staunchly conservative likes of GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and the Tea Party movement, and they’re off to talk to their neighbors.

The only problem is Mr. Tisei marches in lockstep with Republicans on major legislation. Social issues however are just that. They are figured out in society and by changing attitudes to make day to day living more inclusive. However when it comes to tax policy, issues of funding wars or not, help for those suffering from a down economy, or laws that make health care more affordable or accessible Richard Tisei is on the wrong side of the argument. Both these candidates have family troubles that occurred too close to them giving the voting public some discomfort. However neither has been arrested or indicted so going further to make some conclusion only leads only to conjecture. This should not deter voters to figure out what laws should be supported in the public interest. Mr. Tisei's positions are detrimental to your economic well being and to your health. This is what should be foremost. Neither if elected will show extraordinary leadership or any different constituency work. How they will vote on bills meant to make life better however shows a sharp contrast. Without a doubt it is Republicans in Congress that have obstructed progress. Voting in another one is not going to improve the situation. It will make it worse. So the choice is not between who is the white knight but rather who votes reliably for legislation in the public interest.
And Tierney doesn't march in lockstep with the Democratic leadership? Get real! The entire Mass. delegation votes with whatever way the Dem leadship tells them to. Professor Warren will be the exact same rubber stamp. I'm ready for some change.
When you vote on 'social issues' or when you vote for 'the court' or when you vote for 'control of the senate or house' guess what: you have just WASTED your vote!!! Strategic voting sounds important when you are 19 years old. Those of us who are old enough to have seen that lie played every four years are smart enough to know that strategic voting is a good way to waste your vote and a good way to get stuck with someone for years who can do you absolutely no help at all (Liz comes to mind.) Strategic voting is a waste of your vote.

He "never saw it coming"? Like he never saw his wife's gambling involvement? Or he never saw the money she received as taxable income? Willful blindness is no excuse; and voters seem to understand that. Goodbye, Mr. Tierney. And good riddence.
Every voter going to the polls needs to ask," Why am I voting for this person." If you can not explain with an answer other than my, "neighbor" or "spouse" or "parent(s)" votes this party - stay home.
Tierney's lies are almost as stupid and obnoxious as Liz Warren's lies. What is with the Democrats? All of their candidates have either no experience in real life whatsoever (Liz, Joe III) or they are total creeps and crooks (Liz, Tierney). Democrats, get your act together and send us someone we can feel good about for once!!! Tierney and Liz are REJECTED!!
Apparently they didn't use the words "for better or for worse" at Tierney's wedding. Like a coward, he stayed away rather than support his wife by going to court with her. Disgraceful.
Andrian wrote, "For years, Democratic voters have returned him, almost by autopilot."
How is that different from how Commonwealth voters have behaved in voting for any other politican?
