It all began with a debate over whose home turf was superior.
For Ross Bergen, a North Shore native, and his girlfriend, Lila Gardner, a South Shore diehard, the friendly sparring spawned an adventure: a whirlwind plan to visit all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts in two weeks.

I like a road less traveled. I like a dirt road that wanders away to nowhere. I like a road that winds and has old, friendly houses standing by and trees and a town spire and all the little, wonderful things that embrace our beautiful State. I like what is small and personal and the neighbors say hello as you pass by because everybody knows you and you know them and you always meet Mrs. McGilliguddy and her shopping cart and on occasion, you smell a pot roast cooking and the smell of firewood. Oh, the need for closeness, intimacy and wonder and a road that goes nowhere and everywhere but always you are home. Does this make sense? Probably not.
North Shore wins. I live on the South Shore and miss it everyday. That said, their odyssey is one I would love to duplicate. How fun to find excitement and enchantment in our backyard. Great Story!
