Three casinos submit bids for Springfield licenses

Three well-known casino developers met Thursday’s deadline to submit a formal proposal and a $50,000 fee to the City of Springfield and will compete for the city’s support in pursuit of casino development rights in Western Massachusetts.

MGM Resorts, Penn National Gaming, and Ameristar will battle for the city’s favor, each proposing a gambling resort development approaching $1 billion.

Looks like a drawing from "Back to the Future II"

What happened to the Indians who were supposed to get restitution for our crimes against them by getting the Casinos?? There is no justification for these other entities who are already fabulously wealthy to become even more so. Only Indian Casinos should be considered!

NO ONE wants to go to Springfield. It is a dump. What a waste of money just talking about it.

When was the last time you were in Springfield?

It sure is curious that three separate companies have decided to enter into competition for one state-issued casino license in beautiful downtown Springfield, while only one combine is reported as interested in such a license for the eastern area of the state. Might it be that the Suffolk Downs combine has some sort of political lock on a license for some sort of project at the East Boston/Revere city line? And might that lock, if it exists, be linked directly the state Legislature's House of Representatives? Something mighty curious here. . .
