DOVER, N.H. — A 29-year-old Dover, N.H., man was ordered held without bail today on a charge that he killed a 19-year-old college student from Massachusetts who disappeared last week.
Seth J. Mazzaglia appeared in Dover District Court here via videoconference from the Stafford County jail. He is charged in the death of Elizabeth Marriott of Westborough, Mass. Judge Stephen M. Morrison scheduled a probable cause hearing for 10 a.m. on Oct. 29.
A criminal complaint filed against Mazzaglia in Dover District Court charged him with second-degree murder for “strangling and/or suffocating” Marriott.
Marriott’s body has not been found.
She was studying marine biology at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. She disappeared Tuesday after leaving the campus to visit friends about six miles away in Dover. She had been staying with an aunt in Chester, N.H., while attending classes.
Officials have not said how they believe Marriott was acquainted with Mazzaglia.
