Rep. Tierney continues to express optimism

Says his outlook is good even as signs show Tisei surging ahead in Sixth District race

PEABODY — After a weekend of disappointing news for his reelection effort, US Representative John F. Tierney stood on the sidewalk outside his campaign headquarters Monday to insist he was in fine shape with three weeks to go.

“The outlook is good,” Tierney said, speaking with the Globe as part of a sequence of back-to-back-to-back media interviews in which he downplayed suggestions that Republican challenger Richard Tisei was surging past him. “We have a poll that — a recent poll that shows us in the lead, and it’s been consistently accurate.”

What Rep. Tierney continues to express are lies about Richard Tisei. I received a live "Town Meeting" call from Tierney last evening, in which he said that Tisei supports a bill that would deny cancer screenings to women. So far I've received, in the mail, twelve flyers from the Tierney camp that, among other lies, accuse gay, pro-life Tisei of supporting a ban on abortion even when the life of the mother is at risk, and insisting he wants to kill Medicare -- not reform it, not save it from bankruptcy, kill it dead. The lies can easily be proven wrong, but Tierney apparently assumes that if he and the Democratic State Committee repeat a lie often often, voters like me will be dumb enough to believe them. I predict he's wrong and he will lose.

Assuming Tisei wins, what will you have to say if the 'lies' turn out to be proved true?

There have been situations where Americans have actually voted for incumbents who have died, or for the spouse of an expired incumbent. I have seen voters walk into polling stations and ask for a list of who they can vote for! No kidding. Tierney is probably counting on support from those kind of folks.

Republicans will control Washington for much of the next decade.  We need to send Tisei, Beilat and Brown to Washington or Massachusetts will have NO ONE in the room when cuts are decided and money is allocated!!!!!  A token Scott Brown will not be enough to look after Massachusetts and make sure that we get ours, we will also have to send some reps like Tisei and Beilat if Massachusetts doesn't want to take it on the chin later!!

Tierney is optomistic that he won't end up in jail like his felon covicted wife. It's ALL over for him; the fat lady is singing!
