US Representative John F. Tierney on Monday insisted that “the outlook is good” for his reelection despite a weekend of news suggesting otherwise. On Friday, challenger Richard Tisei reported beating Tierney in fund-raising for the fourth consecutive quarter, while the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call said Tierney was pulling back on $650,000 in TV ads for the final two weeks of the campaign. Later in that weekend, a nonpartisan national election tracker shifted the race from “Toss-up” to “Leans Republican” while a Republican poll reported Tisei was surging.
