Rep. Tierney continues to express optimism
Says his outlook is good even as signs show Tisei surging ahead in Sixth District race
US Representative John F. Tierney on Monday insisted that “the outlook is good” for his reelection despite a weekend of news suggesting otherwise. On Friday, challenger Richard Tisei reported beating Tierney in fund-raising for the fourth consecutive quarter, while the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call said Tierney was pulling back on $650,000 in TV ads for the final two weeks of the campaign. Later in that weekend, a nonpartisan national election tracker shifted the race from “Toss-up” to “Leans Republican” while a Republican poll reported Tisei was surging.
