Boston police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly spat on a bus driver and shattered the window on a bus door, the MBTA said. Carlos A. Ramirez-Rodrigue, 38, was picked up by the bus just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Dudley Street, the MBTA said. The transit agency said he began yelling and swearing at the driver, who then asked him to leave the bus. While exiting, Ramirez-Rodrigue allegedly spat at the driver several times. The driver closed the door after Ramirez-Rodrigue left, and he then allegedly punched the door and shattered the window, the MBTA said. He was arrested by Boston police. While police were placing Ramirez-Rodrigue in a cell, he allegedly spat at officers and struck one in the arm, the MBTA said. Ramirez-Rodrigue is charged with malicious property damage, assault, and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer. He was also issued a $100 citation by MBTA Transit Police for possession of 1 ounce or less of marijuana. Two other MBTA bus drivers were spat on in separate incidents this month, the MBTA said.Melissa Werthmann can be reached email@example.com.
