Brown sorry for saying Warren used paid actors in asbestos ad

Senator Scott Brown issued an apology Wednesday night for telling reporters earlier in the day that his opponent, Democrat Elizabeth Warren, had paid actors to appear as victims of asbestos-related illnesses in television advertisements defending her role in a lawsuit that has become a key issue in the campaign.

Three of the people in the ads said in statements provided by the Warren campaign that they were neither paid nor actors. They said they had lost loved ones to asbestos-related illness and that Brown’s accusations were offensive.

He who pays the homeless eight bucks an hour to attend his campaign rallies. Despicable gutter politican this guy has become.

never have seen a senate candidate stoop so low as the boy senator has. This guy is not what we expect to represent us in the US Senate. He is getting desperate...using his wife to shill for him and to downgrade Ms. Warren. Think when you are in that voting booth.....do I want mitch mcconnel in my state for the next 6 years? A vote for the boy senator will accomplish this...

I'm honestly shocked. I've never been a Brown supporter, to put it mildly, but I didn't think he'd actually say something like this. That indicates a number of things not only about his ethics but about his professionalism. Even while he tries to make political hay by twisting what happened in the asbestos case, he doesn't care enough about the facts to find out anything about what the victims actually think -- he doesn't even bother finding out who the people are who are speaking in Warren's ads and why they're on Warren's side. Instead, he makes up an outrageous whopper in response to a voter's sincere question, and he presents it as if he knew what he was talking about. What kind of behavior is that for a senator? Heck, what kind of behavior is that for anyone over the age of 10?

Is this how Scott Brown studies an issue?  This incident, apology withstanding, shows he is not very deep in fully understanding what he supports.  He uses his right wing blinders ignoring pertinent realities to push his reactionary agenda.  This is not the first time.  He was willing to inflict more damage on people because of his allegiance to a less than mentally stable Grover Norquist about not raising taxes meaning no vote for meaningful jobs bills.  His wayward political sense led him to sign on to the Blunt Amendment, vote nay on The Fair Pay Act, ay for keeping petroleum industry subsidies, and ay for loosening environmental laws.  It does not make sense to let a legislator vote against laws that improve the status of women, improve the environment, but favor those taxpayers who need no such largesse.  Scott Brown calls himself an independent.  He has now revealed himself as a full fledged card carrying member of the reactionary, ethically challenged wing of the Republican Party.  He fails on trustworthiness and a sense of working for working people. Those who are affected so negatively by his votes should look at this record and cast their own vote accordingly.

I have to also put out the misdirection of his own ads.  Was there a single woman who came out and said thank you Scott Brown for your vote on whatever.  It has not happened.  All we get is women endorsing him but never stating what part of his record appeals to them.  He has even dragged his wife and daughters who have advantages not requiring help from expanding women's rights.  Having a cluster of women in your house is a phony argument when your actions speak louder than words.

What gets me is that he thought he could lie to a voter and get away with it. Just make up an answer that discredits other people and encourages division. Must be getting talking points from the guy who thinks that 47% of the electorate will never take personal responsibility.

Sure, keep lying to pit Americans against one another so that you come out on top. How in God's name did the good people of the Commonwealth ever trust this idiot to represent them in Washington?

NOBODY cares!

Many people care that Brown has, and continues, to totally lie and misrepresent the asbestos matter.

Scotty, we hardly knew ye!

"Justice Scalia." (Scott Brown in answer to the question "Who is your favorite Supreme Court Justice?)

The great state of MA needs a Senator who can be constituent based and responsive to the people of MA-not Rovian-style politics. We have so much to lose with Brown and so much to gain with Warren. I appreciate Brown's making it clear that this "nice guy" facade is just that and that he does not deserve our vote. Maybe he's hoping for enough clueless voters to believe him and not get the news that he lied re Warren(and other things.)

I have been an asbestos plaintiff, represented by Thornton Naumes, first and foremost asbestos lawyers. They sent me a letter supporting Warren. To be brief, these are the facts of the case. Trveler's settled for $500 million. Another company challenged that settlement and it went to the supreme court. Warren represented Traveler's at the supreme court. Warren won the case for Traveler's and the victims and was OUT OF THE CASE. Traveler's later reneged and is the defendant in a new case. Warren has been endorsed by the asbestos workers union.

If this campaign is about character, as Brown puts it, this does not reflect well on his.

The words spoken by US Army counsel Joseph Welch in 1954 to Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy apply perfectly in kind, to our bipartisan, bully boy Senator Scott Brown: "Senator....have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last have you left no sense of decency?"

If he doesn't think they're actors the only thing to do is stop running the ads.

He has been consistant in his bad behavior and snarky, misleading ads. I only hope that Ms. Warren wins the election. I have the feeling that Mr. Brown will be a totally different senator in a full term.
