Boston Superintendent Carol Johnson receives national award for urban education leadership

An organization of the nation’s largest urban public school systems honored Boston Superintendent Carol Johnson with its top award Thursday night.

She received the Richard R. Green Award in Indianapolis during the annual conference of the Council of the Great City Schools.

Comments

Award or no award, the schools are still terrible, there is chaotic, reactionary decision making, and high graduation rates misrepresent that kids who make it to college need so much remedial work, they get frustrated and quit, or spend more money for all the extra classes.  Not quite the things to celebrate...

Simply unbelievable.

The Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) is an organization that BPS pays to belong to. This is akin to getting a good review on the Phantom Gourmet. By the way, last year Dr. Carol Johnson was an Immediate-past Chair of the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) . At the same time this organization published a study where they found a correlation between "educational progress in Boston " and Carol Johnson's "strong and sustained leadership". The study is called "Pieces of the Puzzle" and it is on the CGCS website http://www.cgcs.org/cms/lib/DC00001581/Centricity/Domain/4/Pieces%20of%20the%20Puzzle_FullReport.pd

This reminds me of a fake rally held in support of Superintendent Johnson and organized by ... Carol Johnson.
