A father’s death leaves family hurt, perplexed

When the body of an older man was pulled out of the Charles River earlier this month, it wasn’t clear whose it was.

But it was clear right away whose it wasn’t, and that was what seemed to matter. It wasn’t Jonathan Dailey, a graduate student who had mysteriously gone missing the week before. The older man’s name, who he was and how he came to die, earned scarcely a mention, lost in all the focus on Dailey.

The same thing happened with Mother Teresa and Princess Di.

Mr. Schworm, was it neccessary to remind us about a dozen times of his drinking problem? Does not show much respect for the man.

Thanks for writing this. As I read the recent article about the search for the young man, I winced at the lack of regard for the poor soul that was found as well in the river. Often times in reports of tragedy involving someone of note, identities of others involved are cast aside as if their lives were secondary. I will raise a glass today in honor of Petey, a good man with a good family.

What a lovely man!  It must be so hard on you...his family...to lose him that way.  Sorry,  very sorry.
