Bomb threat investigated near schools

Ware police shut down a stretch of West Street near Ware Middle School and Ware High School on Sunday after receiving a report of bombs in the area, said Ware police Sergeant Kenneth Kovitch. “We received a report of a possibility of some incendiary devices,” he said. “I don’t believe there is anything out there. We did an extensive search and found nothing.” The search began at around 6 a.m., he said, after someone called with information about possible bombs. Kowitch declined to release specifics. The situation is under investigation, he said. Local, state and federal agencies searched both sides of West Street, which is Route 32, said Kovitch. No buildings were evacuated. The search ended at around 3:30 p.m., he said, and police do not believe there is any danger to the public.
