LOWELL — Sixteen days before the election, the Republican and Democratic candidates for US Senate warned voters of the race’s high stakes, as each portrayed the opposition as a standard-bearer for partisans.
As Democrats charged that a vote for incumbent US Senator Scott Brown is a vote for a Republican majority in the US Senate, Brown told supporters that he represents “good moderates” trying to bring the country together. He rallied a crowd of about 120 supporters in an auditorium at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he was joined by his wife, Gail Huff, his daughter, Arianna Brown, and New Hampshire US Senator Kelly Ayotte.

Sen. Brown, who votes the Republican economic agenda, voted against a bill to reward companies that bring jobs back to America and deny tax breaks for shipping U.S. jobs overseas. Brown voted to filibuster a carrot-and-stick bill that targeted off-shoring of jobs by offering employers a two-year payroll tax break on every job shifted back to America, while denying tax deductions for building a plant or office offshore and eliminating certain tax subsidies for companies doing production overseas Brown said his approach would be extending the Bush tax cuts - "all of them" (i.e., including those for the wealthy) - and cutting the tax rate on corporations. The media is firmly comitted to portraying candidates in horse-race terms. The candidates are described as if they were barely distinguishable-so much so that we need the next analysus, the next litle tidbit, the next false equivalancy in order to decide. The choice has been clear for a very long time. For most of us it would be devastating to be subjected to the Romney-Ryan budget plan with its much, much higher Medicaire bills, higher taxes for us with lower taxes for the rich, defunding of Planned parnhood et,etc. Brown has appealed to donors nationwde emphasizing what he sees as the need to have a Repub majority in the Senate. While some voters are still undecided, Warren supporters know why we're voting for her.
Senator Scott Brown is a worthy candidate to represent MA residents: He deserves our vote because he supports the people of this state.
Prof. Warren is the choice of the National & local Democratic Party - because she will say and do anything to benefit herself: this time round she calls herself a 'democrat,' steps back to allow men to speak on her behalf (Deval) and will be dog-loyal to the Democratic Party.
Canta... I am glad that Warren is the choice of Democrats.
I have two daughters. I am not about to sign away their right to choose (Pro Choice) their own destinies by putting an X next to any candidate for office with a Republican affiliation. The republicans have moved to the radical right and unfortunately a Massachusetts Republican is a Republican is a Republican is a Republican. If Brown wants to emphasize his "independence" he should have run as an Independent. Maybe next time.
His voting record is a Republican record. He voted against Kagan as a Supreme Court Justice. It is clear he is an anti-choice Republican. As a Republican, he wants to repeal Obamacare which benefts me and my family, and actually puts a stop to freeloaders of the health care system by forcing all to get a health care plan. He believes the wealthy should continue to pay a tax rate that is less than the one I do. We should do away with this 15% capital gain pass through loophole Romney takes advantage of.
Finally, the guy is a weirdo who exagerrates himself and is not the brightest to represent the state of Massachusetts.
Actually Warren was Harry Reid's pick, and the Dem party complied by kicking all the local candidates to the curb. Warren plays a 'Rigged System' whether it's getting nominated for Senator having never held elected office, working as a lawyer without passing the bar exam or switching identities to white or Native American when it gives her an affirmative action advantage.

What a shame that in the obituary column, the Globe didn't mention that George McGovern, years after he lost the election, became a small-business owner. Other media outlets did. You can read the whole speech by googling George McGovern Connecticut hotel.
Reaganites, like myself, have a particular fondness for McGovern because of his post Senatorial career. After a career as a war hero, a politician, a Liberal icon,McGovern went into the world of business, and decided to make a payroll. "McGovern went into business for himself -- and went bust. Following the recommendation of a friend with “a lifetime of hotel- and restaurant-management experience,” McGovern bought a small hotel and restaurant, the Stratford Inn in Connecticut. He poured his savings into the place,... McGovern said : "I wish I had known more firsthand about the concerns and problems of American business people while I was a U.S. senator and later a presidential nominee. That knowledge would have made me a better legislator and a more worthy aspirant to the White House. . . . I learned first of all that over the past 20 years America has become the most litigious society in the world. . . . The second lesson I learned by owning the Stratford Inn is that legislators and government regulators must more carefully consider the economic and management burdens we have been imposing on U.S. businesses. . . . Many businesses, especially small independents such as the Stratford Inn, simply can't pass such costs on to their customers and remain competitive or profitable.""I can recover eventually from the loss of the Stratford Inn because I’m still able to generate income from lectures and other services. But what about the 60 people who worked for me in Stratford? While running my struggling hotel, I never once missed a payroll. What happens to the people who counted on that, and to their families and community, when an owner goes under?"

I can't get an answer out of the Warren campaign on this question: In mailers and in speeches, Warren has said the Senator Brown passed up his one chance to vote for equal pay for women (the Paycheck Fairness Act), and that she (Warren) favors equal pay for women. What the campaign won't say is would Warren have voted for that specific Paycheck Fairness Act, which even the Boston Globe editorial board said was not a good answer to the problem.
Scott Brown has been in office 2 years. Plenty of time say linerals to show he is no good
Obama has been in office 4 years. 2 years w/ a majority adn approximately 3 years since the recession ended, yet, as liberals yell, he has not had enoguh time!
“You can question whether he’s too conservative,” Bloomberg said. “You can question, in my mind, whether she’s God’s gift to regulation, close the banks and get rid of corporate profits, and we’d all bring socialism back, or the U.S.S.R.”
Bloomberg prefaced his comments by emphasizing his desire to support “middle-of-the-road Republicans and Democrats,” and praising Brown’s work to block a bill that would have expanded the right to carry firearms across state lines. Bloomberg went on to say that Brown, though more conservative than him, deserves his support because of his work on a major gun-control issue. “If we don’t support people like that, nobody’s going to take risks,” Bloomberg told the paper.
