Arrest made in grocery store bank robbery

Whitman police have charged a woman in a bank robbery and said she is a suspect in three other robberies of banks inside Stop & Shop groceries the Brockton area, police said Sunday. KerriAnn Heffernan of Bridgewater, 31, was arrested Saturday and charged in the robbery of the Citizens Bank at the Stop & Shop in Whitman on Friday. She is also suspected of robbing banks in two Brockton Stop & Shops on Saturday and a bank in the Stoughton Stop & Shop on Sept. 6. Police said they found items belonging to Heffernan that were covered in red dye. Heffernan is scheduled to appear in Brockton District Court on Monday on charges of armed and masked robbery with a firearm, armed assault to rob with a firearm, and assault with a dangerous weapon — all stemming from the Whitman robbery.
