Scott Brown courts Boston’s black voters

Senator hopes even a small gain can make a difference in close reelection campaign

Two new billboards, standing across from a Nation of Islam mosque and over a hair salon in Roxbury, show Senator Scott Brown shaking hands with President Obama. Underneath the billboards, the state Republican Party has opened an office with workers wearing “Obama supporters for Brown” T-shirts.

In the last week, the senator has met with black pastors in Boston, visited a black church in Dorchester, and called into a black pastor’s radio show in Springfield.

With black unemployment at around 14% and no solutions in sight, I'd say that Brown has a shot at peeling off some votes. Pesident Obama promised the black community a lot and obviously didn't deliver. I don't think they are as enthralled with democrats as they were in 2008. You just might see a low turnout from them which would hurt Warren.

The REAL Scott Brown Record on Jobs: Brown voted against bill to fund 7,000 summer jobs for Massachusetts young people Brown repeatedly voted against extending unemployment aid, even as tens of thousands of out-of-work Bay State residents facing loss of jobless benefits Brown voted against bill to give tax credits to businesses that bring jobs back to America and deny tax breaks to corporations that move jobs overseas Brown voted against bill to create tens of thousands of jobs by providing loans and tax credits to small businesses Brown voted for Republicans spending bill that would cost Massachusetts 17,000 jobs and take away job training assistance for 27,000 potential workers Brown voted against $655 million in federal budget assistance to Massachusetts; funds to keep almost 3,000 teachers on the job in Bay State schools

I thought so and tried to be open minded and than say to myself maybe.  A black man at Forest Hills was handing out Brown literature.  Huh?   I wasn't off the mark - $50/day is a nice windfall when nothing else is going your way.

That comment was about as open minded as a shut door. You embarrassed yourself.

Scott Brown and his entourage came to visit my church last Sunday and I was furious! Neither he and any member of his party had ever visited Grace before but here they were in an election year visit and disrupt the worship service.  They did not have the grace to stay for the entire service as they were making the " Black Church circuit" where they were pandering for the black vote.  Where has Mr. Brown been when these young people have shot on our streets? There were four young women shot several weeks past anyone remember a word from Mr Brown but he can visit our churches.  Our pastors need to be ashamed of themselves, politics has no place in our church!

Your pastor should be explaining to you that you can't help poor people with socialism! All you end up with is a lot more poor people and a lot less tax revenue to serve them with! If you don't understand how Scott Brown helps your children's future... and how Liz Warren's Democrat fantasies do the exact opposite and keep them in their place, then you deserve Liz Warren...

user_4408549 :  If the Senator cares so much for our community to solicite its votes, why does he only show up for photo-ops in an election year?  Elizabeth Warren is not an elected official, Brown is.  Senator Kerry visits our neighborhood from time to time and shows his support for returning Service Members from Dorchester.  Why not Senator Brown?  Too busy meeting with royalty instead of those in his own state who are working to create a stronger, stable community?  He's not fooling anyone who actually votes, like me.

The photograph of the two Ray Flynn loyalists standing in an empty Scott Brown campaign office should be republished the day after the election to reflect their disappointed appearances. They look like they just read the headlines: WARREN WINS!

"Obama supporters for Brown" and the billboards - who is the Senate Republican Senatorial Committee and Karl Rove trying to fool?  Looks like the Senator watches Jesse Watters on the O'Reilly Factor!  Is the Senator taking advantage of ideas gained from one of Mr. Watters recent segments, maybe?  Hmmm....
