State Police released Wednesday the name of the man who was struck by a sport utility vehicle after he walked onto Interstate 290 in Worcester last week. Drivers called police after seeing the man — Gary Carl, 57, of Lowell — walking up the Lincoln Street onramp toward the westbound lanes of the interstate on Oct. 17, State Police said. Troopers were looking for the man when they received a call from a driver at 8:18 p.m. who said she had hit a pedestrian with her SUV, State Police said.
