Relatives of two people whom James “Whitey” Bulger is accused of killing three decades ago bristled Thursday at the gangster’s claim that he received immunity from a federal prosecutor to wage a reign of terror that authorities say included murder and extortion.
“No one gets a license to kill,” said Steve Davis, the brother of Debra Davis, who was 26 in 1981 when prosecutors say Bulger strangled her. “I don’t believe that one bit.”

TJ English in a Newsweek article interviewing former FBI Agent John Connolly reported that Connolly recalled a meeting with Strike Force Jerry O'Sullivan and Whitey Bulger in the late 70's at a hotel in/near Boston. Connolly asserted that O'Sullivan wanted to meet Bulger. Assuming that John Connolly will testify at Bulger's trial that he witnessed a grant of immunity at the meeting presents a host of problems and speculation. Did Connolly do this at the behest of FBI HQ representatives? Does Connolly have witnesses to this meeting; for instance, his supervisor, John Morris? Is there an FBI report on this? Was this reported to DOJ/USA in Boston; besides O'Sullivan? Did the Strike Force Chief make a report? The real problem is that any meeting, real or fabricated, was against FBI rules and regulations and, of course, DOJ regulations, particularly since Bulger/Flemmi were Top Echelon informants and sacrosanct protected against disclosure. Revelation of these informant's identity would include dismissal and severe repercussions in the FBI. Morris, received immunity from prosecution, and would also be called as a witness along with others who presumably knew of Connolly's supposed meeting with Bulger and O'Sullivan. This indeed could be a 'bombshell!
Why did O'Sullivan have a heart attack before he was to give testimony before Judge Wolf? Raises some questions, doesn't it?
The Bulger brothers are really scholars. The one, Bill, is a scholar of the ancient Greek language while the other has a Phd in slaughter. How could such two stark opposites have emerged from the same womb?
