A former high-ranking official with the Hermon School Department has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to stealing more than $28,000 from the department. Larry Dearborn, the former director of maintenance, facilities, and transportation, waived indictment and pleaded guilty to theft Thursday at the Penobscot Judicial Center. Dearborn, 44, was also ordered to complete restitution payments. Most of the money has been repaid. Prosecutors said Dearborn used his position with the department to purchase items for personal and business use. (AP)
