US Senator Scott Brown is cheery and loose on a campaign walk through downtown Lynn. This is what he likes best. There is no press swarm, and no Democratic tracker recording his every move.
Brown pops into businesses. Poses for photos. Picks a dime off the sidewalk and pockets it. “I’m getting rich,” he says.

Scott Brown may yet pull out a win, but he was in the driver's seat until the opening moments of the first debate when he went after Elizabeth Warren for her Native American heritage. In one stroke, he lost the benefit of three years of a carefully nurtured image as a nice guy. If Warren wins, that may well be looked back on as the turning point of the campaign.
Enough people have now seen scooter show everything abouthimslef to be a sham. Say nice guy, be a jerk. Say independent, vote hard line republican.
Contrast this article with the story following Elizabeth Warren on the campaign trail. While Warren visits carefully selected staged photo ops -- with latte-drinking worshippers and big-money unions that have endorsed her -- Scott Brown actually gets out and meets ALL the people he seeks to represent. He's not above trying to make his case to a little boy confused by Warren's distorted ads, or to give a friendly wave to a passerby who gives him the bird. (Stay classy, Warren supporters!) He works for EVERY vote -- not just the liberal groupies put in front of him by his campaign staff, like Warren does. Washington doesn't need another phony like Elizabeth Warren; it needs more real people like Scott Brown. Let's keep him there.
Brown is not a populist. Don't fall for the campaign style over substance. Republicans are all about protecting the interests of the one percent. Chances are, he's not for you. His slogan, "He's for Us" should have the words "wink wink" after it.
Classy? In Reading Warren lawn signs are being stolen right and left. Two Brown supporters in one neighborhood have included empty chairs(a la Clint Eastwood) as part of their display for their side. Elizabeth Warren has had many more campaign stops than the Senator. She has blanketed the state speaking to anyone who would listen. Scott Brown has avoided such interactions with the public. Scott Brown's encouraging erroneous Native American side shows is also demeaning not only to a distinguished teacher but to Native Americans themselves. By the way how do Brown supporters explain her endorsement by Sheila Bair, the former head of the FDIC, a Republican reformer of the banking and financial industry? Ms. Bair's explanation. They worked together and Chairperson Bair recognized her efforts as just what this country needs, a knowledgible fighter for everyday people. She has Mayor Menino's backing because of her willingness to stand up for working people instead of getting into bed with those who brought this economy to its knees as Scott Brown does. He receives money from the Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, ethically challenged hedge fund managers and big banking executives. Just who do you think he thinks has the better solutions for this country? My Dad use to say, "hab sechah." That's yiddish for "have some sense."
Brown is a PHONY, a fraud and a know nothing. He looks good with his truck and jacket but that is IT. He is bought by big oil and other big corporate interests and he votes 70% with Republicans and shows it. His advertisement are often lies for which he had to apologize. You know a candidate stands a good chance of losing if he wants to emphasize stupid issues. His Cherokee issue was INSULTING not only to Elizabeth but to those American Indians who occupied this land before Europeans set foot on its soil. His staff with insulting war whoops by supporters who wore baseball caps backwards. Very smart -- NOT. His main message is vote for me because I am better looking. Hopefully Massachusetts voters are not adolescents and are above that! Warren is a MAGNIFICENT candidate. Maybe she is the best we will ever have. This woman is NOT a politician. There is not a phony bone in her body. She is all policy excellent and knows it thoroughly. She is NOT bought. I loved her from day one as much as I love her now. And after talking with her and meeting her three times I can say she is the real deal and a LOVELY LOVELY person. Yesterday I had a chance to meet her husband as well. Likes attract likes. He is as nice and very very smart as she is. I was very impressed. I cannot say how much I root and support this woman as a candidate. The opposition in the final analysis is with big corporate behemoths and if you REALLY read his record he is not all that bipartisan. Republicans say anything, and LIE like a rug on EVERYTHING and anything they think they can get away with if the voters are unquestioning. To say that she is against Medicare is INANITY and a just plain LIE if one understands politics. Hey, guys Democrats are the one FOR keeping Medicare and Social Security not demolishing it like Romney, Ryan and the Republicans want to do. The Republican Party is NOT about any of you unless you are part of the 1%. When all is said and done Brown voted 70% with his own Republican party and for the Blunt amendment against contraception. He will ultimately be beholden to the Wall Street behemoths. He and most all the Republican party of extremists are NOT about most of you and neither is he. Elizabeth Warren I hope for your election every day. My price above rubies candidate is a GEM!
Ms. Rosen, you haven't taken your meds today, have you? How does your brian process information in order to come up with drivel that you spew? There isn't a sincere bone in Warren's body and you have clearly labeled the wrong candidate as "a fraud". Your claim that Scott Brown was 'insulting not only to this fraud but to those American Indians .............' because her made Warren's claim of Indian ancenstry an issue is comical. It is Warren who has insulted American Indians with her fraudulent self-serving claims which she further fueled with her refusal to meet with Cherokee nation representatives on two occasions. Warren is the worst candidate that the Democrats have ever fielded in a state-wide election. If she were a viable candidate and not a fraud she would be ahead in the polls by a 30 point margin and not barely hanging on to a slim lead. You really need to allow some fresh air into the room, take a deep breath and re-think your love for Warren. She's not who you think she is.
nrosen. I agree. She is EXACTLY what you think she is! And by any measure, it's better than Scott Brown. Let's do this for one moment: agree that Liz lied about her Indian heritage and lied about the asbestoes suit. I can't think of anything else that Brownies have used that got any traction. Now, let's just take Scott Brown's RECORDED VOTES, not what he says or does or how he appears. Compare the two and keep score. Here we go!
http://rethinkbrown.com/the-complete-record.php
ANY rational person, IMHO, will have great difficulty saying that Elizabeth Warren's items even closely approximate Brown's transgressions and the damage he has done. Agree?
i may have missed it, but I just don't understand why the Globe has not published the facts about Elizabeth Warren's work for Travelers. What she did was to help the workers, to maintain the $500 milliion fund Travelers had agreed to set aside for worker compensation. Another insurance company challenged Traveler's and Warren took the case all the way to the Sureme Court to keep the fund to compensate asbestos workers. (THe Asbestos Workers' Union supports Elizabeth Warren.) After Ms Warren left the case, Travelers reneged on its promise, but that is not Ms Warren's fault. The law form where she worked is still representing the workers to try to get Travelers to cough up the money it promised. Yes, she got paid well, but what she did is not easy and she did save the $500 million for the workers, until Travelers broke its promise.
They have published the facts which include:
1) She was working in cooperation with the Asbestos victims and their lawyer. They continue to support her.
2) The work, which is on the public record, supports her. It shows that this was to provide a way to protect corporate assets from bancruptcy in a trust that would have paid for the victims needs. Travelers backed out of their agreement.
3) what you say is factually false.
We limit ourselves as a society when we refuse to allow candidates with substance to rise into leadership positions.
Brown asked the question."Why be mean-spirited? and, yet, he is pitching,in his fundraising across the US,for a Repub Senate majority. The Ryan plan, which Brown said he welcomes, involves brutal cuts to essential programs for people of all ages and enormous cost increases for Medicaire for seniors. It WOULD effect current seniors by de-stabilizing the system.Brown has repeatedly voted against our interests for the sake of "job creators" aka corporate interests. As with the womens' choice issue,Brown said he doesn't agree with all of it but won't say which parts. He's for and against it.Romney said he wants to elininate Planned Parenthood and Brown is for Romney. He cannot credibly say that he would not be beholden to the far right after receiving so much financial and campaign support from them. It is really disconcerting to see that a voter mentioned in this article that he wants to vote for him because he has a dent on his pickip truck. Being mean-spirited and uncivil in the Repub dictionary, means disagreeing with and rejecting plutocratic Repub policies and phoniness.
As if Warren is not runniong a campaign of lies and distortion against Brown. Spend 10 minutes watching TV and you'll see 2 Warren ads attacking Brown begging for your vote to prevent a Senate majority for the Republicans. I'm voting for the better candidqate tgo get things done in Washington for Mmassachusetts and America and that person is clearly Scott Brown!
Warren's ads almost never attack Brown's character. They focus on his voting record and his actions as evidence of his real approach. Brown's ads, however, have been brutally personal, attacking Warren's character regularly. There is a very real tilt to the darkside on the Brown approach
Please send me a link for all the good things Scott Brown has done. I'm having trouble finding any. Thanks. P.S. Here is something on Elizabeth Warren and what the business community thinks of Scott Brown: http://janebryantquinn.com/2010/07/why-elizabeth-warren-should-head-the-new-consumer-protection-bureau/ http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-09-13/scott-brown-wall-streets-hope-to-stop-elizabeth-warren
As I recall, voters also preferred to drink a beer with George W. Bush. Need I say more?
"I may be a lot of things but I’m not a bad guy." Fair enough,...he may not be a "bad guy". But Karl Rove is and more than probably so! He's made his mentor Lee Atwater a piker! Why has Senator Brown "consorted" with such an abominable man? What does that truly say about him, then? Crossroads GPS,...indeed!
Scott's an everyday-guy? Fine, I'll buy him a beer, but I'm giving my vote to Warren.
When I see Gail Huff on TV in her ads, I want to ask her, "Does the dark tone of the Brown ads reflect the character of the man you married?" "Around here, he's just called 'Dad'"? Well, if so, then "Dad" has a dark side to him that has started to come out during this election season. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> That snarky remark to Warren in one of the debates, that Brown was "not one of the students in her classroom, and she couldn't stop him from speaking" was a revealing point to me. I have felt that, if Warren could manage to somehow get Brown to lose his cool and blow his notorious hair-trigger temper, that could reveal the real Brown on TV to the breadth of the Massachusetts electorate. Believe me, Brown's carefully tuned image is not even close to real.
I thought that Brown had prepared several sound bites, trying to recapture that "It's not the Kennedy seat, it's the peoples' seat" lightning. He made several remarks that seemed contrived to be memorable. He fell short. The only thing that mattered was his demonstrated inability to grasp the issues and therefore, his inadequacy as a US senator. When you don't know the difference between the Lilly Ledbetter law and the Equal Pay for Equal Work language, you should be disqualified. He wasn't even given a slap on the wrist by a politacally fawning press corp. When you don't know the difference between shaping a bill and plagiarizing one, like the STOCK Act, you should be chastised. He wasn't. When you don't know the difference between serving honorably and politicising the military, you should be called to task. He wasn't. All I can say at this point is: "If by now you haven't realized that Scott Brown is lighter than air, you're not paying attention."
Thanks to the storm, Scottie will escape from another debate loss. There's little chance that he'll show up on Tuesday. He'll be grandstanding in the Framingham bunker making Massachusetts safe from Sandy and keeping himself safe from Elizabeth with her pesky questions about his voting record.
Who could not like the new Jimmy Stewart of Washington, which he went to. ("Mr.Smith goes to Washington"} Yet, darn it, I can't vote for him. He still has not shaken off certain, typical Republican ideas. And yes, we need another Democrat in the Senate.
The problem is that his ads misinform and in some cases, actually lie. His problem is that Massachusetts voters dismissed his "nice guy" image long ago. Those who were paying attention noticed the lock-step votes, no matter what, with GOP's Boehner and McConnell early on. He only became "bipartisan" when he heard Elizabeth Warren's footsteps. The record clearly shows the Panderer's Shift: http://www.progressmass.org/press/new-study-progressmass-analysis-of-scott-browns-voting-record-reveals-highly-partisan-record-overwhe.html Truthfully, I'm not sure Warren will win. Brown's negative ads and constant harping on irrelevant issues will impress many people. Warren's constant referral to Brown's sorry voting record, his flip-flops, his ignorance of the issues and his misleading remarks ("I already released my client list.") do not seem, to me, to be very effective. Bur Hope springs eternal. Vote Democratic and don't split the ticket.

Brown may be a nice guy but he's run a horrible campaign that robbed him of his likeability. Meanwhile Warren ran on the high ground focusing on issues.
You might want to consider other news sources in addition to the obvious faithful reading of the Boston Globe.
@WesternSuburbDad - we do listen to your other news sources and find they do not stand up to independent news sources.
If you are a real patriot and a real citizen (you show no sign of it) an intelligent look at Senate.gov and opensecrets.org would be a start for you. Using other public records about the rest of Scott Brown's utterly contemptible and rather foolish lies will round it out for you.
We are using multiple news sources - it is you who obviously don't or you would not be embarassing yourself so.
Scott Brown has spend about nine months attacking Elizabeth Warren’s character with false lies. Now listen to his sensitive self:
Brown says, “...you’ll hear one person say something: Oh, you’re an a-hole!’ And that’s the one thing I remember. I don’t remember necessarily the other 15,000 good responses. I’ll remember that one person And I say why would somebody do that, be that mean-spirited? “
Scott, a principled person runs on his record and does not call people names and make false accusations.
