Poll shows Warren, Brown deadlocked with week to go

A new Boston Globe poll shows that the race between Senator Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren is essentially tied, with ample opportunity for both candidates to win the nation’s most expensive Senate contest seven days from now.

The survey indicates that Brown holds a razor-thin 45 percent to 43 percent lead over Warren among likely voters, well within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points. Brown’s lead evaporates, with 47 percent for each candidate, when voters who are undecided are asked which candidate they are leaning toward.

Comments

With most polls showing a Warren lead of several points, or at least leaning Warren, might this not suggest the Globe's poll is an outlier?  Very likely.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Definitely a possibility.  If Nate Silver is calling it safe Democratic, then I'd have to see more polls showing Brown ahead.

ummm...The Rasmussen Rports is not "right leaning", in fact, they called the 2008 election for Obama. Stop the bias.... Obama and Warren will both be on the 2012 losing ticket.

Rasmussen is right leaning. He used to pal around with Jay Severin. Don't be so obtuse.

One instance does not disprove a trend.

I love how the Globe spins things. I am a Brown supporter.  If the razor thin lead was in Warren's favor the head line would have been - "Warren ahead of Brown".  But today since Brown holds the lead -- it's a "dead heat".

The MoE is 4.1% so a 2% lead when almost every other poll has shown Warren in the lead doesn't sound like Brown is in the lead.  It sounds like the Globe poll could be an outlier.

Keep in mind that the poll was put together by Andrew Smith of UNH -- he's got a pretty solid anti-Warren track record:

Seems like the Globe needs to find a different pollster. If the Globe had a pollster who was anti-Brown and their poll showed Warren with a much bigger lead than other polls, people on the right would be screaming. The other way? Not so much.

And you want to elect another Dem who will vote w/ Reid and have another 6 years of nothing?

Hey begolfing - do you have opinions of your own?

Whadda ya know. . . folks are wising up to Granny the less than egalitarian Hahvud Law expert on bankruptcy and her $375,000 a year pay for teaching one class per semester.... Lots of folks would like that kind of no lifting job. . . (note that the word 'heavy' was left out on purpose). . . Let's hope that enough Massachusetts likely voters turn out to prevent Lizzy from being a 'yes woman" to Barry the O and his left-listed Chicago-style party . . .

People don't end up teaching at Harvard Law School because they are a slouch. Or a d-b.

You seem to have too much hate to be objective.

Strange as it seems, the Boston Herald has found some who accuse Senator Brown of politiciizing the impact of Sandy because he visited the state Emergency Management Center in framingham on Monday. Yet there was no mention of a similar visit by Sen. Liveshot Kerry to that same facility.  Globe Demomob propagandist Glen Johnson found it just fine that Barry the President Obama returned home to Washington to preside over the U.S. response to Sandy. . . Not politics, Johnson implied.  Of course it is . . . the guy who loves to call himself 'commander in chief'  wants to generate his sleeping in his own bed into a political advantage, one that Gov. Mitt Romney does not5 qualify for as he is not a member of the federal governent. . . So, politicizing a likely tragedy is fine for the leader of the Demomob, but (according to a feistier newspaper) not for the incumbent U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, whom the Globe just found to be slightly ahead of Professor Granny from Harvard . . .

Elizabeth Warren will work for all of the citizens of Massachusetts when she is Senator Warren (Democrat-Massachusetts), even those who are disrespectful of the office. President Barack Obama will be the Commander in Chief for another four years when he is elected again by the American people.

So wait, some guys said something bad about Brown in the Herald, so all liberals are evil?

And your attack on Senator Kerry and the President are?

If the Globe says it's a dead heat, Brown must be up by 10 points.

Aw shucks, you beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to say.

Probably the most pressing issue facing Massachusetts and the rest of the US is the stagnant state of the US economy, and what either candidate can offer to help all of us in Massachusetts is of the most importance right now. One of Massachusetts biggest economic sectors - the Financial Services Industry is being decimated by firms like State Street Corp (STT) that under the direction of its current CEO Jay Hooley, is engaged in a Joint Venture or JV with a firm owned by INDIAN nationals called SYNTEL corp (SYNT) of TROY MI that has already sent over 3,200 good paying middle class US Job, most from Massachusetts, to INDIA, this only three years after State Street Corp received a $2 Billion US TARP bailout from the very people that this firm and its current BOARD of DIRECTORS are hurting the most. This is a NATIONAL DISGRACE and if either Senator Scott Brown, or Elizabeth Warren can help put an end to this "Betting Against America" I will vote for that person....

Keep dreaming. The only people that think it's even is Dumbo Brown's team. Nobody will tell the senator he has no clothes.

Ladies, Brown will twist the truth to woo you into the voting booth. Claiming he "would have voted" for the Lily Leadbetter act seems dishonest as he voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act because is would be a hardship on employers. Actions always outweigh promises. Just ask Mr.Romney.

Once again, the Globe staff would like to remind potential Republican voters that they must report to special polling places on November 10th to cast their vote. Voters should carry three forms of photo ID as well as documents certifying that they are fee born land holders. Republican only voting centers will be located at Brockton, Springfield and Lowell.

Whatever we do in Massachusetts let ensure we do not have a check and balance system with our elected officers. It’s embarrassing to travel across this great county and try and explain to folks why the voters of this blind state are not supporting their own x Governor for President. Vote the person NOT the party.

Replies

Why is that embarrassing?  Mitt was a horrible governor.  As with the national election, Mitt ran as a social moderate, then went hard right almost immediately after being elected.  He may have balanced our budget, but it's a consitutional requirement and he did so by raining fees $500 million and pushing costs down to the towns.  Then he traveled across this great country slamming what he now calls "his state."

Scott Brown has repeatedly lied about his bipartisanship - he's only bipartisan when it means his party had the majority vote. When the Democrats need his bipartisanship, he's no where to be found. He voted against all 3 jobs bills, and has taken the Grover Norquist pledge. His ads lie about Elizabeth Warren's court cases - she has been on the side of the Asbestos workers and middle class, but he uses scare tactics to make it sound like she isn't. Please read up on his claims. He isn't trustworthy, and you can't take his word for any of his claims.

Here is a video to support your comments on Scott's untrustworthiness.

Shame on you, Scott Brown

"I can’t imagine anybody putting up with me over long periods."  This is adirect quote from Warren in a puff interview piece done by the Globe.

That statement is the only thing out of her mouth that I totally agree with.

Replies

I wonder if she won if we would have to put up with her for a long time. She's 62, 1 term puts her at 68. Then she does a hand-off to Joe Joe Joe Kennedy? I don't have much of an opinion on Joe III yet, there just isn't much there yet to judge him by. Likeable enough guy probably, I just don't like representation by dynasty.

Why is the media avoiding asking Brown whether he regrets lobbying to loosen restrictions on behalf of New England Compounding Corporation last summer? Does he still feel that these efforts to promote a 'job creator' trumps the need for government to be there to protect us from mold and fungus in our medications?

Scott Brown's voting record clearly shows that he does not have the best interests of all Americans, let alone Mass. residents, in mind. Vote him out. Warren would be a wonderful representative for our state.

Brown is still dreamy...I just love the way he looks into my eyes when he speaks...he would never lie...I'd let lim tomahawk-chop me all the way home.   Warren should just go back to her tee pee and cook her man some dinner like all good little girls should.
