Three injured in weekend car crashes

Car accidents left three men injured during the weekend, according to officials. George Rego, 47, of Fall River, was driving east on I-195 in his 2002 Toyota Tacoma in the right lane near exit 4 in Swansea, at about 3:30 p.m., when he drifted into the breakdown lane, hit the guardrail, and rolled over, said a statement from the Massachusetts State Police Department. Rego was ejected. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for head injuries, according to the statement. In Easton, two men were injured early Sunday, when a 2005 Nissan Altima on Prospect Street about 2 a.m. went off the road, became airborne, and crashed into several trees, according to the Easton police chief. The driver, 22-year-old Perry Sarakiniotis, and his passenger, 21-year-old Michael Berksza of Easton, had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life and were taken to Boston hospitals, according to the statement.
