A consortium of media outlets that had planned to sponsor the final US Senate debate abandoned the plan Tuesday, after Senator Scott Brown said he did not believe another debate was necessary and that he would not be able to reschedule the one that was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy.
Brown made that statement after insisting for days that he was eager for a final face-off with Elizabeth Warren.

What is important here is the timeline of this retreat by Sen Brown. This was explained by John King, the chosen moderator in the timeslot of the proposed debate last night. The campaigns were asked in view of the weather to wait until 10am Tuesday before a decision was to be made. Scott Brown did not wait he backed out early. But did he back out or did he think his senatorial duties trumped telling the people his views? He tried to visit and I use "tried" because it basically did not happen. A reporter for PBS tried to document his inspections of disaster areas but site after site had been properly dealth with. There were no major disasters. The reporter had a hard time keeping up with the campaign as they rushed here and there for an opportunity to meet citizens under water. They could not find any. Trying to be fair the panel at PBS gave the sitting Senator up for reelection the benefit of the doubt on his motives but quite frankly found his activities more self serving and less service to his constituents. His lame response for a make up debate only focuses more his inability to articulate a legislative agenda that appeals to the majority of the Massachusetts electorate. We do not need non transparent candidates and specifically ones who seem to favor misguided bankers and financiers over working people. We also don't deserve to be drawn into future wars because neo-conservatives and Tea Partiers have his ear. It would also be risky to count on his vote to confirm Supreme Court Justices. Those votes would decide whether hard earned rights would continue. In short Sen Brown is not a believable trustworthy office seeker. He should be retired.
“My view is that the people of Massachusetts have a right to hear from the two candidates for this important Senate race, a right to hear from us face to face,” Warren said during a visit to Westport on Tuesday. “We’ve had three debates but everyone was counting on one more before the election. I think it’s important for the people of Massachusetts to hear directly from the candidates.” said Elizabeth Warren. ******************************************************************************************************** Which is why she ducked three radio debates. Liberals have no shame. Thanks for doing your job Sen. Brown.
Three radio debates...with Brown's talkmaster pals...what a joke.
Yeah right. WGBH and the Boston Globe. There are a couple of unbiased news organizations. Spare me the progessive angst.
Why would Brown publicly debate when his TV and radio ads can spread lies and distortions without fear of being publicly confronted. It's easier to hide in his protected compound and only go out surrounded by his guards and handlers. What a manly man.
What a MAN! Scott Brown, THE MAN!

Brown is clearly afraid to be on the stage before the voting public where he cannot hide from his votes. A Republican he is and a half term senator he will be.
Now that Brown has reneged on his pledge for 4 debates I fear that a slew of ugly PAC commercials will be on the airwaves before Warren PACS can respond. A coward about to face the firing squad becomes desperate -there is no thought of honor.
***Every day I hold this office, I will give all that is in me*** Which is not much. Too bad Little Scotty keeps trying to pretend he has no affiliation with the Republican Party when in fact he is a GOPer just like the rest of them...how's that no-taxes pledge to your TeaParty guru, Grover Norquist? Heckuva job, Brownie.
Obama and Romney only had three debates and their running for the office of President of The United States. Warren and Brown already have had three running for a Senate seat. Who needs another debate. Enough is enough.
Brown agreed to four debates. If he felt as you do, he should not have agreed.
HE is a liar and a cheat.
I wouldn't have thought it possible, but the more I see of Warren, the less I like her. I'm glad I don't have to see that smug face again, and that hair-do picked out of Lefty Girl magazine.
It's interesting that people like you have nothing positive to say about Brown. I would think that in a race like this he and his supporters would be eager to show off all his fine accomplishments, his excellent academic career, his leadership in the Senate, a cogent and clear vision for the future.
Problem is, you and he have nothing to show.
For your information, Elizabeth Warren is ahead in all the polls and is widely considered the one who will win. Hardly surprising for a nationally recognized expert on commercial and banking law, someone who has distinguished herself in her efforts to protect victims right to sue from law suits, saved the American people a billion from the bailouts, writer of a dozen books, voted best professor by two generations of elite lawyer graduates of Harvard Law.
