Brown cancels fourth debate with Warren

Senator Scott Brown, after insisting for days that he was eager for a final face-off with Elizabeth Warren, said on Tuesday that he did not believe another debate was necessary and that he would not be able to reschedule the one that was canceled because of the storm.

“With only days remaining in the campaign, and with a long-planned bus tour kicking off Thursday through Election Day that will take Scott Brown to every corner of the Commonwealth, our calendar simply cannot accommodate a rescheduling of this fourth debate and the planning and preparation that would go into it,” read a statement from campaign manager Jim Barnett sent late Tuesday.

Brown said "I had two radio debates that she didn’t participate in ..." How can there be a debate without Warren's participation? And what is Brown's problem with rescheduling on Thursday? Is he afraid he'll make himself look like even more unsenatorial than he already has?

This tells me that Brown saw the results of the Suffolk/News 7 poll showing that he is losing by 7%. That's just way too much ground to make up in a week. Thumbing his nose at the voters won't help his cause either.

Maybe Scott doesn't want anyone asking him questions about calling real asbestos victims paid actors. Or, questioning whether he still feels good about lobbying to reduce regulation on behalf of New England Compounding Corporation, while they were producing mold and fungus contaminated medications. Is that an example of the kind of the kind of "job creators" that we need?

Brown may be smart. He did okay in the first debate, and not so well in the 2nd and 3rd. He's not likely to gain anthing from a 4th debate, so why bother?

His claim of two radio debates is laughable. He shouldn't have said that.

Brown originally ran as a nice bipartisan guy. If he's stuck with that he might well have won this race. Increasingly, though, he's been running ads that aren't just negative, but nasty -- heaping disrepect and ridicule on an accomplished woman. She hasn't returned the "favor."

"I'm Scott Brown and I approve this message." It's difficult to resolve those mean ads with the nice-guy image.

Don't worry, reluctantly or not he will show up or face a landslide defeat Nov 6th.  People may have their differences over governing but they understand lack of character when they see it.  This has been the great leveler in American politics.  If you're caught acting like a jerk and have no redeeming qualities to make up for it, you are in trouble.  Scott Brown's whole campaign, using the same brainchild, Eric Fernstrom, as Mitt Romney, wins the prize for the lowest road this election cycle.  So far he wants to keep it that way and not let the voters hear if he has any substance.  So far he has shown little interest in legislating for women's rights, levelling the playing in business, and show some understanding of the plight of the unemployed, students, the sick, and the poor.  He should not be returned to Washington.

It's not like the timing is a surprise unless Scott doesn't know how to read a calendar.  He already committed to it and it's disrespectful and wasteful to those who have been planning and financing the debate for him to just suddenly decide to be a no-show.  Doesn't speak well of his integrity.

I just have to ask.  How did Scott do in those raio debates that Liz skipped?  Did he win?  Later I understand he beat her three straight sets in a tennis match she declined to play.  So if Scotty chooses not to reschedule, they should go ahead without him Thursday night on TV.

Run away, Little Scotty...run and leap and hop...and hide! The big, bad Elizabeth Warren is coming for you...better run home to mommy...Chickenheart Brown dressing up in his big-boy camos just like a real soldier. What a joke...

Scott, please debate her one last time. The sheep of Massachusetts are on the verge of electing her. You must do all you can to prevail...

So 2-1/2 years ago they were prescient voters, but this year they're sheep? You're engaging in your usual illogical nonsense.

Couldn't it be that they've learned from their mistake?

Beam me up Scotty...you're doing a heck of job there Brownie!...what do Scots where under their kilts - nothing of course...his brown-eye is sore from doing nothing for two years but follow McConnel...of course he does not want to debate!

Scott will agree to a debate if Obama agrees to another debate with Romney. Subject: foreign Policy, with emphasis on what happened at Benghazi, Libya.

Oh, OK, then. I had no idea that Senator Brown's campaign was so inter-twined with Governor Romney's. Why doesn't the Senator himself make that connection? Hmmmm.

Scott Yellow is a coward. Hiding behind his wife's skirt while he lies and runs baseless ads.

Honestly, I have been a Warren supporter since the beginning, but I have been amazed at the unsavory tactics that our junior senator has employed to keep the seat and spotlight. For a man who ran on his likeability and balance, he has certainly run the other way. Why is he afraid to debate a 4th and final time?

What's the excuse this time? Just too busy using the disaster to campaign? Have your distortions and personal attacks run out of gas and left you with nothing more to say? What ever happened to courage and honor, Senator?

He's been losing the debates, so he probably figures it's better to just slam her with negative TV ads.  Probably a good move on his part.

Scott Brown's new campaign song: The Felice Brothers' "Run, Chicken, Run"....watch it on youtube.

I guess that he decided that he was better at kissing babies and waving than he was at debating.
