Bulger’s lawyer seeks to postpone trial

James “Whitey” Bulger’s lawyer told a federal judge Thursday that the gangster’s right to a fair trial will be violated if the court insists on sticking with a March 4 date, but prosecutors argued that he has already avoided justice for far too long while a fugitive.

After a 15-minute hearing, which Bulger did not attend, US District Judge Richard G. Stearns said he will issue a written ruling in several days on the defense’s request to postpone the trial from March 4 to November 2013.

This should be one of the most interesting trials ever in criminal history. The implications are far reaching, if they do not uphold his immunity; no rat (informant) could ever trust the FBI which would make it nearly impossible for them to catch any type of highly organized criminal... All law informant rely on informants...  Without a network of intelligence, efforts in law enforcement,  would be at a stand still... I am not talking street crime here, I am talking serious criminal activity...  Murder, for hire is one of the most, if not, the most difficult crime to prove... Contrary, to TV and the Movies, the bad guys get away, and crime,   if done right pays and pays extremely well; if you do not believe me just ask the Wall Street Criminals that are all free spending their millions of your money...

Except there are no body bags, torture cells or dead "collateral damage" witnesses on Wall Street....Oh one more thing. When a corrupt/ incompetent SEC official commits a crime nobody ends up dead. Cheer up Agent Callahan. Friday is mac and cheese night at the Fed Pen.

The lawyer has already had a year and a half to prepare for trial.  That should be enough!  Unless, of course, the government is hoping Bulger dies of old age before he testifies in court.  (It's rumored that Whitey will be the smartest person in the courtroom and that may be scaring the bejesus out of the proscution!)
