The city will close a section of Commonwealth Avenue in Allston for eight hours Monday to host a concert by the band with Boston roots, Aerosmith.
The band plans to perform a concert at noon on a mobile stage in front of 1325 Commonwealth Ave., the apartment building where the rock group got its start, said Dot Joyce, spokeswoman for Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

Is it really appropriate to close a major road AND public transportation for FIVE hoursThor a one hour event. The T doesn't close for the marathon and shouldn't for this. Don't worry, Menino will be up there on stage, or his name plastered aroun somehow...
Why don't you keep your snarky comments to yourself. Menino is in the hospital. Do you have any sense of propriety at all? When was the last time you said something to anyone that wasn't nasty?
Snarky comments are appropriate for a mayor who demands our tax dollars and private funds plaster his name on every truck, banner, even public art - notice the next painted electrical box you see - his name is there over whatever painted design is on it. I wish him Godspeed in his recovery, but while he is still mayor, public criticism is needed. And still, shutting traffic, public transportation AND paying for details is completely ridiculous.
Fire detail?
Snarl? Aren't you calling this a little early?
A pleasure to see a legendary AMERCIAN BAND pay homage to their BOSTON Roots. Nice guys who never forgot where they came from...
Have to work but this sounds like a lot of fun. Hope there are other bangs playing, why close down the street for eight hours for a twenty minute show? Aerosmith has got to be playing for more than that. Twenty minutes is only the or four songs.
