1. Availability of motor vehicle repair data
A yes vote would require auto manufacturers to make available diagnostic and repair information through a universal software system that could be used by dealers and independent shops. A similar law was passed by the Legislature this year, after the question had already made the ballot. Because that law is already on the books, most of the original supporters of the initiative are asking voters to reject the question, to avoid confusion. AAA supports the ballot question, because it would make more information available to all consumers.

In many towns and cities there is also a Question 4 on the ballot that seeks to put the voters of those communities on record in support of a constitutional amendment overthrowing the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. If there is one thing this election has made abundently clear it is that the corrosive effect of hundreds of millions of dollars spent on negative advertising leads us to a world imagined by a George Orwell and Aldus Huxley, not by Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
The Globe does a disservice to its thousands of readers and subscribers in those communities by not providing information on this very important issue and question.
Really? Red pills on the Globe home page to tease what should be an unbaised summary of Question 2. Truly shocking how blatantly it reinforces the opposition's false messaging.
We expect better from the Globe on Election Day.
